Yes, Alice, I keep it tucked in with the orchids during the cool months. The bottle palm is always in the OC as I have orchids hanging all over it. I built a dolly out of 2x4s so I can roll it around when need be. I can still lift the Licuala but usually use a 2 wheel dolly. I work out 5 days a week but get older 7 days a week. Shrug!

LOL Ken, I have that problem too; the aging goes on 24/7. Actually it seems to go much faster these days.

If you have a solid surface to roll the containers on, I have found these are the best plant caddies for heavy plants. They come in different sizes but most of them hold up to 500 lbs. After 2 1/2 years mine still roll as smoothly as when they were new.

Gigi, it must smell wonderful in your garden! Good growing!

Alice, interesting about the plant caddies and yes, I know you meant Jim, not Ken. Hilarious!

I just received a call from one of my palm buddies in Miami. He has found a Trithrinax acanthocoma in a three gallon pot and will have it shipped up here to me. It has been on my want list for years. Hurray! Hurray! Now to look for a good place to plant it.

Jim, they are all fragrant but since they are out in the open, I still have to come closer to smell them. The Singapore White (first picture) is the one that is very fragrant (not sure if you had this variety when you were growing them). The Crinum Lily smelled great when I had them in the front garden.

I just googled the thritinax Palm and it is beautiful. there is one with similar lead pattern but has the whitish color that both DH and I love. HD sometimes carries them, but too expensive for me.

Ursula, they are surprisingly very easy to grow. Mine are in pots and some are dwarf and compact so they are easy to move around. I keep most of mine small so they look nice in containers. Some are small they fit in my succulent containers.

Gigi, if I found a Trithrinax acanthocoma at a HD store, I would pass out. I've been searching for this plant through my palm network for years. It's really hard to find.

Thought I show my small seedlings of the Adenium obesum/somalense mix! I had started them around March 15. as parallel experiment to the seeds I sent out. Ken, did you find the time to seed them out? If not, they still should be fine, it is not too late.
Cute?

Is that the same as what we call a desert rose down here?

I've never seen Adenium seedlings before. How cool, those little trunks are already chubby.

Lovey dubby I agree they are cute! In the adenium forum they said seedlings will bloom in 7 months and they do not become true to the parent so you could be in for beautiful surprises.

Jim, love that palm. Reminds me of the Old Man Palm somewhat. Does it grow as slowly? The guy who sold us our old man said they only put out 1-2 fronds per year, but we've witnessed 3 new fronds already since planting.

Kate, I'll never be able to put my old man palm in the ground, too chancy up here. It is not cold tolerant at all. So, being really slow growing is fine with me. This new one, called a spiny fiber palm, will grow faster and is more hardy. It should arrive next week and I'll plant it quickly.
