Mine is putting up a bloom stalk right now. We are leaving next week and will be gone for 2 weeks so I am not sure how far along it will be when we get home. I am thinking that we just might come home to a really stinky house. Whistling .

I am a VooDoo Lily Killer. I have had two and killed them with love. Killed them with neglect. Killed them with sunshine. Killed them with shade. Sad The little bulb I was gifted from an ATP member last year survived the winter and actually doubled in size to about the size of a chestnut-bigger than a walnut. But it never really grew like those described in this thread. Green with envy here. Green Grin! The bulb it firm not mushy. There is no sprout.

How about a refresher course on the basics for me? Well draining soil, part sun. What else? I want this one to grow, Grow, GROW!

Oh Boy Did I get the call from my son this morning Rolling on the floor laughing
We are traveling and our Voodoo Lily was getting ready to bloom. we warned the woman that was going to care for the plants but never mentioned it to my son ,Well my sons family decided to stay at our house while we are traveling and I knew that they were there and neverthought to mention it. Well Jamie has been looking all over the house trying to find out what was causing the dead animal smell luckily he realized what it was before he did a search of the crawlspace under the house. He wants to know if I was out of my mind when I got it Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Having poor luck growing previous Voodoo, this tiny bulb gifted to me by a member a year ago seems to like my way of gardening! What is this? Do I dare say inflo on this little 8" tree? And what about the little green leaf? Do you think it's related?

Do you know which Amorph it is? It's probably another leaf so your tuber should get pretty big. The other shoot doesn't look like an Amorph though.

I think Sway has loads of different Amorphs so hopefully he'll see this. I hope one of the southern growers chimes in but up here I wouldn't re-pot it. I'd just feed it weekly but often and give it as much sun as it can stand without burning. @TexasPlumeria87 how much sun can yours stand?

Evan, mine are in full shade now because last year and the year before even morning sun caused the leaves to get scorched. I only have them in partial sun in Spring when they're starting to wake up. Thumbs up

I got scorched leaves when I had the others full in TX sun, too. In the end, I think it may have caused their demise. This one leans into the 3pm sun so I think I can increase the exposure. But maybe not next week when they are predicting a week of 100°.

I repotted it once early summer. It filled up the 4" pot with roots quickly. I see two roots peeking out of the bottom of this 6" pot. Respectfully, please tell me when I should repot?

Amorphs rebuild a new tuber each year from scratch. The longer the plant is leafed out and getting proper nutrients the larger the tuber will get and the sooner it will bloom. If you can re-pot it without disturbing the roots and stripping off root hairs, then it won't miss a beat. A good rule of thumb is to use a pot 3 times the tuber diameter for medium size tubers. Maybe Cameron can help out here. How long is the growing season before they go dormant?

BTW you have a nice light petiole clone of A. konjac. Thumbs up Thumbs up

I have mine in 10 in. pots but they're in desperate need of repotting. I think the tubers were about the size of a small apple? I think when they go dormant, I'll repot them in fresh potting soil and put them in some larger pots. Mine end up going dormant around September mainly because of the intense heat, sometimes they go dormant in October? Thumbs up

I didn't see the tuber size as it went gently from pot to pot. A soon as I see more roots escaping from the bottom, it will go into the next size pot. Last year it went dormant around October.

The timing is interesting since they go dormant in October here as well, or get knocked down by frost.

Do you all take the tubers out of the pot to overwinter?

@eclayne Even though I try to keep mine watered, I think the intense heat just forces mine into an early dormancy. Last year it didn't rain for 41 days in a row and that took a toll on everything.

@ShadyGreenThumb I leave mine in the pots and set them in an unheated shed.
