I found this on the internet. Kind of neat, and I don't even know where it came from or who to credit it to. Rested Dog Inn, I guess, but I can't find the list on that website, anyhoo:

So, who does hosta theme gardens? I have the Americana series from Olga Petryszyn. But that's it. Oh, and a few of the mouse ears.

WOW -- that IS impressive. Can you imagine trying to collect all in a series??
I have a MUCH smaller collection of sorts...mostly by chance... like the Mouse Ears (just ordered Mouse Trap!!!) series and the American (Patriot, Liberty etc..) and the food groups Orange Marmalade and Guacamole... oh and dont forget the "Heart" series... Cheatin Heart, Faithful Heart and a new one I ordered but the name escapes me...lol!!

I have collections of some of the little hostas, by sporting families (i.e., Mouse Ears). It's fun to have a goal for collecting... especially since some are obscure. The Tiaras are another extensive family that are collectible - and kills time while the garden's under snow.

Over the years, I have bought lots in theme's, but never got around to moving any into a theme bed. Last year, I actually got one bed started. I started with Halcyon and it's sports, as many as I can find, and then June with it's sports.

That should be beautiful, Pam. I would love to see pictures someday.

The Mouse Ears group is very cute, isn't it, Kathy.

Oh yes -- post some pics....

I have a land of the mini's inspired by someone on here... I forget who... but remind me!

Anyways, in the land of the mini's I have all the mini hosta's (duh) and I have an old hollowed out tree stump that I put the mini mouse ears collection in... however, if they create too many more I will have to move them out of the stump!

Cool list! Thanks for sharing that. Hurray!

I was thinking of planting some Star Trek themed hostas. My husband is a Star Trek fan, and I ended up getting into Trek with him to some degree. We even discovered a name for our son when we heard the name of a minor character from The Next Generation series. (Ian Andrew, if anyone's interested.)

So far, the only Trekkie hosta I have is 'Vulcan,' which was new last year but definitely a nice looking hosta. This year I'll probably pick up 'Captain Kirk' and 'Enterprise.'

I think the "Mouse" hostas are so cute. i do not think I have any yet... but they are on my 'list'
I just love the Tiaras. i have a few - but love their compact growth habit. I need more of those too.

I have a bit of a Snow-Frost-Ice theme going on my garden. DH is an Ice Scientist - specialty mechanical properties of ice. Practical applications in things like consulting on the Confederation Bridge when it was built as to how strong it had to be built to withstand winter ice conditions.

I presently have 10 such hostas -
‘Blue Ice’
‘First Frost’
‘Frosted Dimples’
‘Frosted Mouse Ears’
‘Ice Age Trail’
‘Ice Cream’
‘Korean Snow’
‘Lemon Frost’
‘Peppermint Ice’
‘Summer Snow’

Use to have ‘Mountain Snow’, but it developed HVX a few years back. I won't replace it as it was a bonus plant - they sent it to me instead of something else I ordered and it will eventually get too large for my garden.

Also have several of the "Mice" plus 'Country Mouse' of a different family. I group them all together in a planter.

I also have hostas that I've bought with family names, but I caution you to check them out carefully before buying. If you don't like them, you're stuck with them. OTOH, you can't always tell from registration data. I bought 'Sara' and it was designated medium and it's getting to be one of the largest hostas in my garden. Fortunately, I like it. I don't like 'Karin' as well because it's so extremely cupped. (My two daughters' names)

I have many theme gardens but very little shade, so I've collected several tiny hostas for my mini-garden. With the exception of a few large hostas in the back, everything is minature including daffodils, campanula, a rose and creeping thyme. No particular theme to the hosta, though.
Can't seem to find a wider view of the area at the moment ~

I got the slugs out of my garden!
First, kaylyred - your list of musical title Hosta is impressive. WOW! [fell over just looking at it!] When you have time you may want to hunt down 'Yellow Bird'. It was either a Haitian or Jamaican song in origin about thwarted love (1950s or so; wonderful music).

Just wanted to indicate my hosta garden has an unlikely theme of 'Chaos and Destruction'. Some of the names take a little imagination to understand (e-mailed if you have to) but they all make sense. Mind you I have a very small garden of 3ft by 6ft; so that's chaos in itself!

MWHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!
• Blue Mammoth
• Dancing Queen
• Dixie Chickadee
• Dragon Tails
• Emerald Tiara
• Frosted Mouse Ears
• Golden Tiara
• Gorgon
• Holy Mouse Ears
• Itsy Bitsy Spider
• June
• Lemon Lime
• Little Devil
• Little Sunspot
• Popcorn
• Sum and Substance
• T Rex
• 'venusta'
• Vulcan
• X-Ray

IF I had a larger space I would be able add another dozen or so to the same theme.

MstrPBK / Peter Kelley

Since the time of this post I remeasured the garden and found I had a little more space than i thought ... 3ft 8in. x 8ft x 8in. Its still a very small garden no matter how you look at it!

Mine has the same theme -- if there was a spot in the garden when the hosta arrived in my hands - in it went!!
