Deleon Springs. Have no idea where it came from, bird maybe ? It only grows in a couple spots in the yard. Full blazing sun, but generally moist soil. It's right along a fence line.

Lin, you know I posted the link to the plant atlas, right? I'd say I wish I had some growing here but I prefer natives so I would force myself to pull it (probably). For now, Publix remains my backup food source.

If you're ever in Brevard County area, you could try Maple Street Natives.

It's not so much I want to plant something in the yard as I want a place to scavenge. Also, I have to avoid the Titusville area - too many relatives that don't like me.

I'm also trying an experiment to see if I can grow water chestnuts in my pond. Brought some fat bulbs from an Asian market in Salt Lake City and here they are putting up shoots like crazy!

My Orange/Jasmine tree out-performed herself today; and after a heavy rain I managed t take a few photos. The fragrance is wonderful.

Oh Elfie, that is so beautiful and I can only imagine how awesome the fragrance must be!

I did try; but I didn't see where I could download the picture. I'm missing something here.

Elfie, I just submitted them to be imported into the database. In the future, just go to the bottom of a plant's page and click on where it says, "Upload a photo".

Or once you locate the plant in the database, scroll down a little and look on the left side of the page where you will see a white box that says

Adding Actions:
Upload a photo - select your picture from your computer.

You will then see a green bar that says:
Uploading - once it's done uploading (it usually only takes a few seconds), your photo will appear.

Check off whether the photo is:
Entire Plant
Bloom
Leaves
etc.

Once you've filled in what you want to, click on the green area that says: Preview and it will show your photo and any text you've entered. Then click on the green area that says: Finished

Photos go into a queue for the database administrators; once it's been approved you will get a system message letting you know it's in the database.

Some of you may remember me complaining a while back that my Florida Anise never seems to bloom. Well, I think I found some flowers or seedpods today but I'm not real sure what I'm seeing. The flowers are supposed to be red and I don't see any red. And I know I don't have the yellow variety, FYI. Unless I got switched! So here's some photos. You guys tell me what I'm seeing. Also, I thought the flowers would be bigger.

Maybe it is the Yellow Anise, Illicium parviflorum:
