I am showing rain Sat and Sun also, mowed everything today, bleached a treated 2'x4' to get mold spots scrubbed off before I stain and seal. Stomped more caterpillars, mowed caterpillars, they are on everything...my daughters mulberry tree has covered the ground with mulberries, wondering if the fruits will stop anytime soon? Have to go look that up...!!!**&%&%!!! bamboo is traveling everywhere, I feel threatened by it since no matter how we try to hack it back, it jumps ahead thru our low ground, grrr. Grabbed sandwich stuff for the weekend at the store, and built a fire to torch tomorro morning around a few stumps...

I stomped a fuzzy caterpillar today to. Overcast and it misted heavily while I picked berries.
Put out more sticky traps to catch leaf miner flies, they're getting bad. Repotted a salvia. Transplanted baby cactus. Hauled cedar limbs and got sticky on my hands.
Rain expected during the night/very early Saturday morning. I'll have to cover everything this evening.
After this storm I think I'll take my greenhouse down.

Good chance of rain this weekend, but nothing so far.

Only drizzle here. The thunderstorms and potentially heavy rain show no sign of materializing. The rain gauge is not measuring what has come down this morning. So one warm, breezy day and it will be gone unless some starts showing up this afternoon.

I'm not surprised, but it's still depressing. NOAA released the summer forecast map for the U.S. A very small area of the continental U.S. is showing equal chances between hotter and cooler, but the rest of the country is predicted to be hot, hotter and even more hot. Nearly the whole state of Texas is included in the 'even more hot'. You'd have to move to the southern and middle part of Alaska for cooler temps and even in Alaska the northeast portion is predicted to be above normal. Unless we start accumulating some more rainfall in my area, summer is going to be treacherous for living things and not much to do about it and no place to hide. https://www.yahoo.com/news/ear...

No rain here so far, and I don't see any on the way - yet. We have already lost several trees to the combination of hotter summer, colder winters and drought. It looks like we can expect more of the same except the rainfall for the summer is still in limbo apparently. I'm not planning to plant anything new this spring.

It rained heavily for a short period of time this morning but now the wind has gotten really bad. Currently 58, that's cold to me as I'm already spoiled on the 70's in the morning. I had to wear pants and a long sleeve when I went to pick berries. I'll be glad when my bushes are done giving. I'm not going to miss a day on picking though, don't pass up free food.

I felt the winds pick up and ran to check garden while dogs ran, tied some more peppers and tomatoes to their stakes, I was told to expect 4" rain. Came a downpour and the creek is running, rainwater in the buckets is clean, but I had to get dry clothes - when I told the dogs house, Oakley left me behind to get on the porch, Remi leaned on me all the way in and BOTH of them wanted dried off, miracle of miracles! I see that band of showers following I 20 east, mine seems smaller, but hasn't stopped the heavy rain in the last 30 min. Flood watch, yup. Didn't get my basil planted, did get the 2 rosemary in a pot. Looking for my cuke seeds, think I will start them on a slice of aloe vera so I don't have to watch them.

??? Explain this method, please. I've never heard of this. Does it keep a germinating seed from drying up until it roots well? Good news for this part of Texas if that's what it does.

Yes, like a potato to root a rose cutting, sorry, I wasn't aware it wasn't used...the aloe likes to pull water to it. I didn't get it done, the rain came...
3" of hard rain this afternoon before it slowed down, still raining, but mostly staying north of me.

4"rain plus a smidgeon for this system this morning. Winds make that 56* feel chilly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?... this one is a bit fancier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

this is how I have done it, though mine went in ground, not in pots and I haven't done this in ummmm, 20 years? The aloe vera leaf you slice the outer coating off of one side, then put a slice of the aloe vera leaf with each seed,

Supposedly pioneers moving west kept valued rose cuttings alive by sticking them into potatoes. I have no experience with this practice.

It finally began raining yesterday afternoon. This morning the gauge shows 1". I'd have liked 3-4 times that much. Even the potholes have nearly sucked it all directly in the soil. Still no runoff. It was a nice steady rain without any extras. Thundered only a couple of times. The kind of rain that's entirely beneficial without any waste.

What are odds on the potato sprouting and the rose dying. Green Grin!

Cool, windy and finally sunny blue skies. I ended up with an inch and a half.

Air layering without watering peat moss, from the opening of the video, haven't had time to watch the whole thing. I think this would work.

I didn't expect it to be so cold, but I wore a coat outside
As for rain, didn't really happen...drops only, not many.
