I had really good germination with my squash, cukes, & beans this year.....even without rain, they look great......guess the heat really is good for them....with today's rain, I expect all the garden will be doing well........

Yes, those like the heat. Especially to germinate. Just rot in cold soil.

Well, I did not have to water the tomato plants (or anything else) yesterday. All this rain will be good for the garden.

Now all we need is hot sunshine to pull everything up......can't understand it.......a garden that I pass daily was just planted a few weeks ago....the plants have already surpassed mine....I think he grows them in straight manure!

I know that years when I dump the compost on the veggie beds really heavy so that the tomatoes get planted in straight compost they really grow like weeds.

I always put compost on the veggie beds but some years more compost that other years. I leave it on top, don't till. So if I put enough the tomatoes are just planted on the compost. They love it!

We put a pick-up truck bed full of manure every year, a 9lb cauliflower is not uncommon. Green Grin!

I bought a Ramapo plant this year....guess that's a Jersey bred one, too....I noticed a few of my plants have little green tomatoes on them...all that heat in May!

I have one Ramapo plant. Looking forward to trying it's tomatoes. These Rutger Variety I have had before and they are pretty good.

Was babysitting at the farm yesterday & I went out to check on my son's veggie garden......there was a large snapping turtle right in the middle laying eggs...she loved the soft soil. My grandkids say this happens a lot.....I think Garret should fence the garden!
