Annie, you don't have to dig. You can set it on the ground and surround it with rocks that what I did. I only sunk it about 2-3 '' in the ground. You could insulate it with sand.

The first one is sunk , but the 2nd one isn't.Both surrounded with rocks.

Great! Got plenty of rocks so I should be able to do this. Bet the little toads or frogs would love a nice damp, cool spot for summer.

I remembered a big pile of rocks I unloaded and stacked for someone possibly interested in them, who never called back. Now I'm seriously going to have to think about a little bog thing and where I'd put it!
Name some more plants that might do well there, if you can.

Candee, I weeded and mulched the shade beds today and broke off a great muted green hosta leaf, put it in water right away thinking maybe I'll have time to make a little arrangement. Not much else is blooming at this point so it sits there waiting.

I love that pond. What color lilies do you have? The white one is luscious! The echs are "Pink Double Delight" and I love them because of the fuzziness about them.
Annie, I'll go looking for your arrangement???

I did it: I cut the very few things in bloom here and threw them in my favorite receptacle for you! 6th of July and I have about 10 things barely in bloom- sigh. Lady's Mantle, hosta leaves, iris spears, hydrangea, delphinium, bell flower, campanula, day lily, allium LOL nothing like onions in your bouquet for accent, and my favorite filler: artemisia lactiflora ghizou, which is not even barely open but I cut it anyway.

Candy if you don't have that plant, I think you'd love it: purplish red stems, bronzed dark green foliage, spires of small creamy beaded blooms that remind me of astilbe in overall shape, but hold up much better in a vase.

Great job and that hydrangea really sets it off. I love the container, how high is the whole arrangement? Looks marvelous.

Well. I'm going to have a mess but wanted you to see this. that pot in the center on the pedestal, I rebuilt it back up from a broken mess. there is the culprit looking at you.
That last Boo there is both our faults, He cracked it and when I was watering this evening I slide off the pot. Know it's going to get busted. Oh, well. Lucas and I are a team when it comes to breaking. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Oh, he looks so innocent. Big Grin If it's any consolation, we cannot keep any 'pretties' around here lower than 5-6' off the ground, inside at least. Lamps have no chance of staying upright unless they weigh about 50 lbs, anything at dog-eye-level is going to get beat off a table by a heavy, excited tail in pursuit of a tennis ball or stuffed toy. Heaven forbid a vase be put on a table or end table. If the dog doesn't get them, the cats do.

I wish I had more blooming Candy, but not yet....

No way! What would I vacuum or sweep everyday if there were no black fur gathering in masses on the floor? Hilarious!

When I get the broom out to sweep, I'm o.k. but when I get the mop out to clean the floor, my little Chihuahua will attack it. I have a terrible time mopping the floor.
So this morning, I fixed his little butt, I put both of the dogs out. Poor Lucky had to sffer the heat because of Radar.
Mow aren't they adorable???That Radar attacks my Mop and I can't do anything. Got it done now, til next time.

Adorable, guaranteed. The only dogs I have slight trouble finding appealing (is that politically correct enough?) are the Chinese Crested naked dogs having bad hair days on top of their heads. But I'm sure they are wonderful in other ways other than furriness.

Broom, mop, or vacuum in use gets a tennis ball dropped repeatedly by them here. Floor care= never ending floor hockey with a lab around.

Candy, sorry we stray OT! It's human nature Big Grin That whole arrangement is closing in on 3ft from counter top to tip-top. Can't believe the glass vase hasn't been broken yet, but I am protective of it.

Oh they are so innocent!!! I love that arrangment of pots you have there. I am so thrilled with caladiums and the lovely colors they come in. I use the leaves a lot in arrangements as they last forever.

This is another that I purchased at the same time. We don't have any pets around here anymore. Our good ole cocker spaniel died a few years ago and they cats are all gone as well, now it's just Steve and I. We have thought about getting another but with me working we just haven't. So I'll enjoy your puppy stories and adventures.

Those caladium are splendid. Can't decide which I like best. They are both so beautiful! Do you use their leaves in arrangements, or won't they hold up?

The leaves hold up forever in arrangements. I often remove the dead flowers but the caladium are still looking fresh as day one and stay through several more arrangements. These are on their 3rd. arrangement!
