Thread OP

Someone sent me some root starts for stinging nettles. Is there a kind of soil or way to plant them? I will plant on Sunday. Going to plant my own because of being ill-I cant go looking all over for the wild stuff. Nettles appears to have a lot of benefit for the body.

Welcome! to ATP PeggyElaine.

Here they seem to grow best with some afternoon shade, and in undisturbed moisture-retentive rich soil.

Welcome! PeggyElaine ~
I am no expert, but I sure do have an abundance of nettle. I live in the Pacific Northwest. NW Oregon. All I did was randomly scatter some (very little) seed without concern where or what time of the year and with in about a month I had nettle EVERYWHERE Rolling on the floor laughing .
I don’t know what your climate is, but I really don’t think you will have any problem at all growing it. Mine even grew in seriously hard packed clay Hilarious!

Thankyou very much for replying. I used to see them growing abundantly here but for the last 10 years I couldnt find them. I got some in now and it seems like I wont have a problem with them growing. I will let you know how it comes out.

It's so funny to me because my son ordered seeds and wanted me to plant them but I balked. I didn't want weeds growing in my garden! I finally started some with not so great success. i think we got about six plants. They're tiny right now. I don't remember the benefits right now but found out they are beneficial.

PeggyElaine, Welcome!
Just wondering Shrug! why you didn't ask the person who sent you the roots. Blinking
We have lots of experience people here on ATP that can give you good answers, but you would get better answers if you told people what your climate zone is; what part of the country - or which country you live in, etc. Thank You!
