@floota Julie, could Primal Scream have been in Judith Weston's Garden? If so, I was on the bus with Bill Watson, and I saw that clump of Primal Scream before the bus even stopped! I don't remember the year, but it was a regional at Charlotte, many, many years ago! I was seated with Bill and Ra Hansen, and they said no way could I know any daylily at such a distance! But sure enough, that was it!

No, the 2003 tour did not include Judith Weston's garden. Hers was an open garden ( and we visited it) but it was not a tour garden. I believe ( sadly) that both Bill Watson and Ra Hansen were deceased by the time of the 2003 convention. How quickly time flies!

I don't know about Bill but Ra died in 1999. I apprenticed at Ladybug for several years. Dan still missed her.

@Julie, I use the AAA markers in my garden and for the most part, highly recommend them, too. (My garden has never been on a daylily tour and never will be, but it has been visited by a garden club tour, and any and all visitors who come to the garden ask where they can get the same labels.)

The downside of the AAA labels is that the labels can be snapped off the stake - by people or critters in the garden. I have lost more than a few labels that way (I could never find them under the mulch, and darkly suspect them of having been raked away by my sometimes helpers). Sometimes also the plastic grip part on the label breaks, such that the label then can't clamp onto the stake.

I don't know what the fix for these problems is... possibly to superglue the label onto the stake? Confused (But then you can't reuse the stake, when you decide to get rid of the plant.)

This reminds me, though, that I need to put in another AAA order... Whistling
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

I have to agree that Primal Scream is really a looker and you know it instantly.
