Well, my top 10 changes daily (or maybe hourly??).. What was I thinking not to put it on there? Sticking tongue out

crowrita1 said: You're doing better with your *brecks* iris than we did, Cindy.....Rita bought several (I think it was 8?)one of which was BS (that's Beverly Sills !)....shipped late, REALLY late, at least for northern Illinois....nice size, but drier than a ....it was really dry ! Took two seasons for it to bloom, and when it DID bloom.....it was all BS (that's NOT Beverly Sills !!) it was Fogbound !
So far my track record on Beverly Sills is pretty poor....1st bloomed "wrong" ,2nd (for postage) dried up, and never grew, 3rd (from an on line vendor) rotted out before it ever bloomed. 4th....well I don't know about THAT one yet, it's still "on order", so i'll let you know next year !

LOL. I read your post and was dyin'. I've never laughed so hard in my life. Thank you for making my day start off with laughter ! Rolling on the floor laughing

Brecks. OMG! They are right up there with Michigan Bulb Company - a few years ago I ordered a Japanese Iris. What I received was a Ziploc bag of roots. Now I know when these catalogs arrive
in the mail to immediately throw them directly in the trash ! Smiling

They have 2 pages of 'reblooming' irises. A lot of people are going to ber disappointed. Rebloomers are difficult in some zones. Winterberry iris is more reliable & catalog shows it by zone. Even then irises have their own ideas.
We had a funny season as we were gone of AIS convention time in the middle. Also we grow mainly SDBs & MTBs.

I buy from specialty bulb companies for daffys and tulips and other assorted bulbs but for irises I only buy from iris farms. I do swap irises and do for postage irises, otherwise I would have a very small garden, and those are more accurate than paid sources. What really rankles me is the photos of unbelievable blue irises only to get another lovely purple iris. It pays to know the vendor too and to know their practice of deception by photo. yep, I said it. putting a lovely photo of a blue or turquoise blue iris in a magazine and selling you a lavender one is deceptive. I now go to the wiki site and read the description of the color of any iris I see on an iris site and am tempted to by.

Thinking over the iris season past, I've come up with a list of the 10 irises
that did the best in my garden. Most were first year's.

Strawberry Shake (absolutely gorgeous)
Dragon King ( very prolific)
Center Line (love the colors)
Care to Dance (Oh my!)
Drive My Car (many blooms)
That's All Folks (huge)
Samba Queen (beautiful but only one increase)
Fuzzy Wuzzy Rocket (beautiful and re-bloomed!)
Boundless )re-bloomed)
Coffee Shop (first to bloom - actually second - and wow!)

(there were more faves, but these are the ones I thought of first - looking forward to next season !! I've doubled what I had!)

I have not been out to where we have the TBs to see the increase.

SDBs don't really count as we have some of ours which do very well. Many of the other dwarfs are older ones like Soft Air the parent of Chubby Cheeks although not as hybridizer friendly. Had to reorder CC as we had lost ours.
