Kabby - I've given a lot of my Munsons away over the past seven years. I still grow about a dozen. I will probably always grow these: Betty Warren Woods, Morticia, Henry Lorrain,, Mayan Poppy, Thais, Nivia Guest, Persian Market, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Lord have mercy. I have *three* new unknowns in the process of opening this morning, each very different from the next. I am making myself wait to take any pictures until they are fully open.

Okay, here are today's three unknowns:

First one is quite the largest yet, didn't measure but I would say at least six inches:



Second one has diamond dusting that doesn't show in these photos -- edit: oh it does in the second.... I think this is my favorite so far; that neon green eye and the bright edges really glow against the soft peach:




The third may not be fully open, or it might be another trumpet shape. Slightly larger than that lemon yellow one (Happy Returns?) and a really nice apricot color. I had a hard time photographing this because of its position in the bed and not wanting to step on stuff. So focus could be better:

Bought as Stealth Bomber, and clearly not. The dampness and humidity kept fogging up camera lens so I had to try a dozen times to get this so-so shot.

New today is Wilson Spider:



And reprising Serge Rigaud which has had an outstanding season. It will be winding down soon and I'll miss it. The huge, pinwheel-like blooms make a statement and can't be overlooked. I swore I wouldn't spread any pollen around and most of the time I haven't, but the two tetraploid pods I have are using SR's pollen. With Richard Herbert Haynes which is sort of a logical cross and with Monkey Shine which is....well, not logical. If they mature I'll probably try and give the seeds away to someone. I can't manage the seedlings from last year. Tets are sure harder to get pods than the dips - for me anyway. I've tried getting a pod on SR which why there is a skeleton showing, but I'm sure it will fail.

Ashton, my second bud on Heavenly Curls looks just like yours. Thanks for giving me a name for it. I am letting the nursery know so they can put new tags on theirs.

Leslie, yes, that one is quite similar to Amazing Sights, but the yellow edges are brighter also (Amazing Sights' edges look almost a creamy yellow, at least in that picture.) Close, though!

Nothing to show, yet,and it will be a while, but I was so excited this afternoon to see bloomscapes on the large daylily I dug up from a friend's yard and divided, planted in two containers. I guess it's happy enough with its new home! All I know about it is she says it's lavender.

And my neighbor has offered me some of a daylily she says is "very dark". I went and looked at that plant today and it also has bloomscapes just starting, so I await the view. Not digging it up til after it blooms. (Also it's too darned hot here to do any heavy work right now.)
