I'm having a war with thrips in my garden. Here were the most presentable blooms of the day.

Stealth Bomber

All looking very good to me! I am seeing some signs of thrips here too.

Claudia and Frilly - The thrips here this year are gigantic in size, compared to past years. And they seem to be immune to the systemic I put on my reds and purples three weeks ago. They're also attacking cultivars that were never bothered by thrips in the past. I bought more bug spray today and have an order of Captain Jack's Bug Dead Brew on the way.

Also Frilly, a high percentage of my evergreen and semievergreen daylilies have shorter scapes than usual. The dormants have gigantic foliage and taller scapes than normal. I assume this is the result of a harsh winter and teeter totter temperatures this Spring.

Just noticed signs of thrips on a heliopsis near daylilies yet to bloom and my veggie patch, I sure don't want a repeat of last years damage. Sad

I had a couple of notable ones today.

Stand Up and Cheer.
I got this from Tom Bruce this week. He dug the plant and I replanted it the same day. It went on like nothing happened. It's pretty and tall and Man! What a scape. Tom told me he'd registered it wrong, that the scape improved after he'd registered it. He's right. The scape pictured is on a lined out plant. The one I saw on a mature plant was much better! As you can see, it's almost as big as my finger.

I also got these doubles. Lake Murray Sunset and Red Ragtop. I live on Lake Murray so I had to have that one. Thumbs up

These were fun too.

New for today is Paper Lion. This is an early a.m. photo. As a sibling to Mad Dogs and Englishmen, I'm expecting the Texas sun to fade this toward a parchment color. But early it is sort of a light pinkish cantaloupe shade. I may try and pick up a cantaloupe at the store today Smiling .

Could be! I was thinking Stephanie Returns (I think it was) but that is a much more recent registration so this one is more likely, I think. Editing -- Ashton, thanks. Honestly I can't tell the difference between the two, from pictures! but like I said, Mystical Rainbow is more likely.

Here are three more pictures, later in the morning and in different lighting -- more amber and less pink.
