I received some seeds from a DG friend. Caesar's Brother. I planted them in flats around mid-March. Nothing happened but I put them outside around the end of April. Just three days ago I saw tiny little shoots coming up. I am so excited. They are so tiny and fragile though. How long before I replant them in individual pots. I don't want to lose them.
I would let them get about 9 to 10 inches tall before doing anything with them. Just super saturate the pots when it's time to transplant them, and the roots will come apart easily for transplanting. I usually put them in the ground at this point.

I planted mine in January I think, and although most of them came up about a month or so after planted, I still had a new one come up just last week. I hear that some can take as long as 3 years to germinate.

That's what I heard too or I would have just dumped them. I planted poppies in six paks but almost none germinated. And I had put them out in the cold. In late April (Easter) while we were hiding plastic eggs up and down the cul de sac for the kids to find (a neighborhood fun time) we scattered poppy seeds around my friends mail box and I saw them coming up yesterday. I guess I will just scatter the dirt from my six paks in the garden and hope some germinate next spring.
I am a little concerned about the iris as I planted them in fairly shallow salad containers (like from the grocery store). Not sure how they will fair in there until they are 9-10 inches tall. But a good idea about super saturating them to make separating the roots easier.
