Thanks, Allison and Susan.

I agree that it would be great if they started off faster but at least we get to enjoy them all of August, September and October into November.

Patients have to enjoy all the color in a white environment.

A favorite of mine is Twist & Twirl. I am a bit scatterbrained and so is this coleus. All of these pictures were taken on the same plant. This one tends to be tall and lanky, not the prettiest plant as a whole but the colors are wild.

Thanks Arlene, it is fun with all these odd tufts of color on top.

Smiling That's it.

I have a question you coleus-holics. What is the plural of coleus??? My spell checker says it is coleuses, that doesn't sound right to me but what do I know.

Cuttings were started a week ago and doing well. Now to just not let them freeze by accident. It's tempting to cut more.

So true. I keep taking more and more cuttings and just love their October coloring. We had so many leftover in May, after planting in a few gardens, so I put all remaining in one big pot to let them fight it out. They survived just fine and, of course, I took more cuttings this week.

Yes about the freeze. We are going down to 44 tonight but for the next 2 wks according to advance prediction we will be back to 50s at night. I will go out and cover them tonight. I am not ready to bring them inside this early. I like to hold out at least until the middle of Oct some times I have been able to last until Nov bringing in plants.

Some pics from today, from end of season. All from cuttings saved inside for winter. Had a couple more pics but they ended up blurry. Will retake & add them soon. (And 2 big plants got broken in high winds a few days ago. They're also missing from lineup.)

Not a Coleus, but I though it was until one of you identified it for me!
Beefsteak Plant (Perilla 'Magilla')
I got three of them to root! They are now potted up and growing.

Random question....
Are there any Sun Coleus?? Ones that can grow in at least near full sun...

Nice array of coleus and other plants, Tiffany.

All of our coleuses grow in full sun since hurricane Sandy eliminated our trees!

There are some cultivars developed for full sun. The ones I know are called "Florida-something." Like this:
http://garden.org/plants/searc...

I have 'Florida Sun Jade' and it's been amazing! Really does look more colorful in more sun (vs. washed-out, like some Coleus can in "too much" sun.)
Here's its' "half sun/half shade" look:

Almost all my coleus are growing in full sun. Most of the new ones are very sun tolerate.

Here are the cuttings I took today and plan to mail out on Monday. These are yours Cinta. If anyone else wants some for postage, let me know before Monday. Getting into mid 40's here.

Cool pics! I want to snip your Aptenia so bad! Not because I want to snag it, already have some, just the propagation addict in me that's always holding the mental scissors...!
