I'm on Facebook and have posted links on my FB page back to All Things Plants (articles, plant database photos etc.) I like the idea of having my plant list and photos here and then I direct people here to view them.

I was just wondering about starting a thread in the Daylily forum. I have a Daylily Album on FB and was wondering if that is ok to do or can it be seen if you have an account. I think mine is marked Public.

I don't like to send people off-site to look at photos. (Plus I am one of those people who dislike Facebook.)
Personally, I would like to see your album here on ATP. Perhaps you could add your photos to a blog; that's a really easy way to share a large number of photos. You could then post the link to the blog on the Daylily forum and on your Facebook page. You can add new photos anytime to keep the 'blog album' up to date.
Maybe I will invent a new word...'blog' +'album' = 'blum'...sounds good to me.

I've uploaded many, many photos to facebook but not all are of my garden, plants or flowers. I prefer to have my plant/list/flower photos organized here on ATP and then I supply a link back here.
I like to promote ATP because I think it's an amazing site for gardeners, whether those who've been interested in plants for many years (but don't yet perhaps know about the site) or those newbies who are just starting out and learning about gardening. I know a lady who lives in South Florida who loves working in her yard and enjoys plants and flowers but she just wants to plant stuff and hopes that it will survive. Here in Florida, many things will indeed thrive and survive but recently she e-mailed me, asking questions about a couple of types of plants that she saw at a big box store and another that she saw a photo of in a magazine. She really wanted to plant them in her yard but they were plants that do not do well at all in Florida and would be very short lived. This friend isn't real computer savvy, other than e-mail so she doesn't join on-line websites and I knew she wouldn't join ATP but I still supplied links to the plants in our database so she could read more. She thanked me and said she really enjoyed reading about the plants and loved the photos and she was happy that she didn't waste her money for plants that would only live for probably a month or two here in our hot, humid Florida climate.

Another benefit of posting the photos here and putting the link on FB, rather than the other way around, is that anyone can view the photos here, but you have to have a FB account to access photos there. At least, I think that's correct.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.
I've only had a FB page for a couple of years now and use it to keep up with goings on of family and friends far away. My FB page is not open to the public, only to those friends and family whom I've chosen to see it. If I begin to see posts that I don't like or that make me uncomfortable, I block them. I despise drama and negativity; in my opinion, life is just too short for all that kinda stuff. I even had to unlike and block a family member last year because of that kinda thing.

I had to 'unfriend' a good plant friend on FB because she kept plastering photos of dogs that were being abused, starved, even posted one of a dog that had a gunshot wound in the head. Seriously, many FaceBook postings are crap. Some FB people insist on posting prayers, or political junk or the game of the day. Then they constantly want me to 'Like' whatever they like. No, I have a brain of my own thank you. What is the point of all that garbage that ends up on my FB page. I delete the offensive posts and immediately 'unfriend' the person. Yep, I only use FB to keep in touch with (thoughtful, well behaved) family and friends.
ATP is a plant site; plant photos are always welcomed here and no one would ever unfriend a person for posting plant pics here!

I look on FB to see what my cousin in Scotland is doing (usually eating at a restaurant that serves alcohol ),
what my friend in Japan is doing (usually getting out of jail for growing the wrong plants ), or my beekeeping friends (they rescue bees from strange places ), and to see what's happening at our local plant swap.
For every other plant-related thing I look to ATP.
