Up here milk cows smell like clover and milk, and beef cows smell like straw/hay. Shar maybe the KY cows smell funny cuz they are outnumbered by horses and they are just trying to get a little attention. Perhaps you might pet one. Just a thought.

I only ever once got close enough to a cow to smell it. It was Ol' Pied, the milk cow who was laid to rest when I was 4. Considering that's been a few years ago, I vaguely remember her smell was milky.

Right again, Dahlia.

Sorry, Trish.

No problem.

I told Daisy that you just hadn't smelled a nice clean cow before, and she decided she wasn't offended. All's well. I tip my hat to you.

Dahlia - Bulls are just fine. They make more cows for me to make smell like worchestershire & garlic.

Or sriachi chile & noodles

Or fajitas

Or the luscious smell of hot leather seats in your car or the warm comforting smell of a thick leather coat to protect you from cold-assed winds from up north (you would know NOTHING of that Whistling )

I love cows. There's not 1 thing wasted on a cow. Every little bitty bit of a cow is harvested.. from the fat to render into lard for my hair conditioner, to the bones that's usually made into Jello-O, the guts made into cheap dog/cat food (and unfortunately, sometimes cow food), the blood made into plant fertilizer.. Cows are my friends.

And I wanna eat 'em, too.
(just an FYI, I eat beef only 2-4 times a month, though.. I eat way too much chicken & pork as I cannot digest beef for some reason.)

cow fat is rendered into tallow.

lard is pig fat.

Whistling

Daisy gagged when hearing about cows eating cows, and thought that no wonder her owners would never eat beef bought from the store. I assured her we don't practice such horrific things. She was relieved.

You put LARD on your hair Confused Talk about a greaser!

I admit I haven't been around many cows in my life. But cows are on farms, and farms don't smell milky. Any farm I ever got close enough to smell smelled poopy.

Trish - I know one of my el cheapo hair conditioners specifically said beef products. And I figured that fat's fat, be it from human (http://www.medicalnewstoday.co...) or from cows. I knew that tallow was bovine and lard was porcine, but I swore I saw somewhere (maybe some where in Mexico?) that some thing was made using beef lard.. ? I dunno, not that smart (as my new avatar suggests). And my expensive hair conditioner we always call Crisco, 'cuz that's how thick it is. LOL. And that's how the Canadians who ended up w/mad cow disease ended up with MCD (notice that Mad Cow Disease has the same initials as McDonalds?).. feeding cow nervous system materials to cows (that's not how you make smart cows.)

And now speaking of smart cows, for everyone who has a few moments of time and some decent speakers, please watch this:

http://www.albinoblacksheep.co...

Sharon - you'll probably wanna move your keyboard for this flash.

Dahlia - bees wax candles are much better (lot less smokey) than tallow candles. I'm learning how to make my own candles now! Yay! Doing the palm-wax wickless ones.
