Calling it rain would be a stretch. It certainly wasn't predicted. Shrug!

How I miss thunder too! Hmmm, as long as it will not generate dry lightning anywhere...

Ha! we had one big one real close. It set off my neighbor's car alarm and got the neighborhood dogs going. I just looked at the radar view on NOAA, and it looks we will be getting some more. It seems to be heading due north, so Kelli will probably get it too. It's so rare to get a thunder storm here, maybe one a year, that I get all excited. You are right though...we certainly don't need lightning setting more fires, and there's very little moisture in this event.

Batch 1 container photo update, new ones sprouting some more and I think there are some flower buds forming too:

Flower buds, I think, so I will just observe further and let this grow, have not seen what the blooms look like Smiling

I find the caladiums really exciting, with those lovely variegations Big Grin I think now my real challenge are the strong winds that blows through our area. Thankful for the cool strong breeze that cools us down, but the strong gusts are another thing. The taller leaves are being pushed down a lot, but I do like watching them like fluttering butterfly wings in the wind.

Many years ago I had caladiums planted in our window boxes on the upstairs balcony. They got direct sun until about 1PM and if I remember correctly, they did o.k. These were caladiums with a lot of pink and red, not the white ones.

Yes, they do like the morning sun a lot Smiling My window of direct sun in the afternoon is really short, so it is doing them good too. Thank you city trees! Big Grin

Now my last container is finally showing new poking leaf growths woohoo! Hurray! Better late than never!

Doing a switcheroo on the location of this batch 1 container. So my hot and dry area is okay with the caladiums as long as kept watered well, got good light and shade as needed thanks to the city trees..however, it is the wind that is a bit nasty when it comes around. So switching locations, hopefully in this other corner my growcamp will provide some windbreak:

Took a photo summary of the leaves that has so far formed on my caladium containers: so total of 4 containers, showing the main 2, the other two containers have repeat leaves except for one type which I have just included in the lower photos. Smiling

Photo update of one of the blooming Caladiums. So that's how it looks like, similar to a Spathiphyllum, makes sense since it is in the same family Araceae Smiling I love it! I hope it can try to open a bit more.

This last container of caladiums is finally making its presence known, just two of its attached sides not doing anything..glad the center part and one of the three has something to show now. Big Grin
