This year my cone flowers that I have in one flower bed are finally growing well after four years of trying many new ones from bluestone perennials. There was plenty of trial and error during the four years and many did not survive our zone 4 winters. I also tried Leilani the very first year it took right off and was great, the next spring it didn't return, it was replaced. I know I have some Pow Wow Wildberry and some Cheyenne Spirit and one Pow Wow white plus Prairie Splendor because of it's longer bloom season. I will have to check the tags and see which ones are growing this year. I am happy that they finally seem to be doing well this year, hope it continues.

In another area of my main gardens I have an old variety Magnus that has done well for years and slowly increased it's number of plants. I leave some of the seedheads for the birds in fall which also gives me plants that I keep within limits.

I also have seedlings that I started from seed of both Pow Wow Wildberry and Cheyenne Spirit. I am waiting on them to get larger before I plant them in the gardens.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
Faith is the postage stamp on our prayers!

The AB Plants don't do as well here. They actually shrink instead of getting more substantial. I have 'Butterfly Kisses' and it's pitiful.

Just got that one will have to see how it does. I guess that different growers plants just do better in different parts of the country. I did see Double Scoop Mandarin the other day and might have to give it a try, while not really orange more of a red it was nice looking.

I think they also do better for some gardens locally than others. There are so many factors involved. I started going to the experiment station trial garden here to see how they do there before buying new varieties from now on. That's why I didn't buy the new ones from Terra Nova. They were all healthy, but many were flopping. The one called Supreme Elegance was not and I want that one!

Supreme Elegance is one I should have bought when I saw it. It had such large flowers, but was sold out when I went back.

Plants are as good as Dr's therapy!
Frilly.....I've found that with CS, sometimes it's a 'grab bag' because there are so many colors and shades....At Lowe's here last year, I went up, none were blooming, then went a week or so later, and every single one there was WHITE.....I',m sending two pics of the 6 CS I have, then you can see....And as Clint said, they possibly plant a couple together.....As far as BRAVADO, I have it too in Garden two, in the back, and it has done very well....Have a pic here of it alongside a purple coneflower....It gets fairly tall for me..Is in front of PUR. C!...!!..Additionally, pic of Ruby Star first big blossom, which I think is very underrated!....And one that's gone for four years for me, still going strong, PINK POODLE!...This ECHI was split in half early spring!.....Good luck to all!

This is NOID from seed swap. Not Magnus because I'm growing that nearby and it has more purple color she thinner petals. What do you think this is? It's 3' tall

Pretty whatever it is.
Some pictures from today.

Dixie Blaze - even the faded flowers look good and very fragrant.

Glowing Dream - to me one of the best colored ones.

That Strawberry Shortcake is incredibly unique. How large is the plant and how many blooms does it put out? Wish I could find one of those.

It gets about 2 feet tall with 10 to 12 blooms, sadly it does not do much in the way of re-blooming. It has been a good plant having it for I think 5 years now. I have not seen it for sale for quite some time.
