I started to post my trip pictures here
The thread "Some pics from our Germany trip, July 2015" in Orchids forum
I spent the last couple of days trying to id some local /Thuringian Orchids, I may have the name for one of them.
So many pictures to sift through, I must say that I always enjoy this stage after a trip very much, this way I get to see the whole trip in my mind again.
This will take a few days....

Hot and Humid, oh yea it's Memphis in July! My BV martiana is beginning to put out growth now that it's happy. Other warm to hots are perking up, C violacea, Vanda and the Hologlossums are beginning roots on the new shake shingle mounts, others are burning so on goes the shade cloth, they are under the trees already.
Ursula, huernia have bloomed twice. Last a day but I will get pics. Patty, the Den Enoboli purple 'Splash' is so fun, 3 spikes! Yello Bird kinda cream when opened, hope they get yellow. But can't stay out but few min at a time, glad most of the work is done, time to enjoy.

This is Enanthleya Twilight Magic (Eny Middleburg x E alata). Not only is the bloom fantastic (IMHO), it has the loveliest fragrance of grape Kool-Aid. This cross did two things. The Middleburg reduced the length of the E alata significantly. E alata seems to have increased the fragrance and added some striking white to the bloom. Somehow the magenta brown that is sometimes found in Middleburg has come out as a true purple. It is really vibrant and the blooms are well spaced. I'm hoping for more flowers next blooming.

This is Podangis dactyloceras. It is challenging to grow if you are a chronic over waterer. Though in situ suggests it is found near waterfalls and rivers, it needs water in the early morning so that it can dry out much like Tolumnias. It wants really well draining media. The brown you see is my wayward water splashing (which earned me a whole completely ruined bloom spike). It is cute and if you treat it right it will bloom. I have another bloom spike working now. Trying to avoid spraying it with water.

I love that color of the Eny., Melissa and the fragrance is a wonderful bonus.

I would never do well with that Podangis. I just use a sprinkler head on all my orchids from April through October, so any flowers I would get would be quickly ruined. Perhaps I could remember to bring in those in bud (if I had one Sighing! ) and keep it in the kitchen. I control watering then.

The Podangis really is lovely, but goodness! Those flowers do look very fragile.

Okay, I purchased it from a vendor at our show Orchids Plus. Pat had two so I don't know if she has any more. She is email or telephone only. [email protected] 337 280 8749. However, the original tag says H&R and their catalog number 21227. Hope you find it!

The tag was not listed as Twilight Magic. It was only listed by the old cross information. Epc Middleburg 'MAJ' x Epi alatum 'Early Bird'

These are now Eny Middleburg and E alata. As Jim says it, the boffins at work! nodding

Marble Branch has Middleburg x bractescens. It will be smaller plant, smaller blooms. bractescens is really small, but the blooms will be fragrant and striking.

So does H&R.

I've already sent Pat an Email. I hope she responds.

The pounding rain woke me up early this morning and I just went to turn the fans off in the OC and sure enough, it's raining. It's been raining on and off most of the day. The lawn guys come tomorrow and I don't think they will be able to cut grass with that big mower they have. I cut it myself on Monday because it looked terrible and my friends from the gym came over this morning for cake and coffee so, it is not too high now. Maybe just trimming and edging. It really needs to be cut every four days during the rainy season.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JIM. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER! I am a couple of years ahead of you and had my third lumbar epidural injection yesterday. Perhaps a little less pain (depends on what I do Sighing! ) after the first two. The third will be the last injection unless I choose to have one towards the end of the year. Four per year is max.
