I know it's not summer anymore by a long shot, but I rode my bike around this morning and many of the trees here in Naples are still in bloom. Star of them all is 'Riviera Rainbow' which is still blooming and in full beautiful leaf.

(picture is from an earlier date and there are fewer flowers now, but it's still lush and green!)
Picture of the blooms:

That's gorgeous. Some of the trees are still blooming here but the leaves are fewer on most, it's mostly the white and yellow that I think is a species that continues to have lots of leaves and bloom pretty well.

Countdown to Christmas blooms continues here. Still four or five of my trees have blooms so I think I'll keep my perfect record of having blooms on Christmas day!
The picture below is of faithful 'Donna S' which blooms nearly continuously every year.

We're nearing the end of 2011 and I just had to show this Plumeria. It is 'Riviera Rainbow' which I hope to have registered in the near future. Not only is the tree still blooming, but it is still in full gorgeous leaf! Pretty much everything else is bare.
This variety has 'indeterminate' inflorescences, which means they continue to produce new buds over a period of many months.

Beautiful! Now THAT is a plumeria!! That's the size they are here too. There are still blooms on many but only the white and yellow still have their full amount of leaves, the others look a bit threadbare at this time of year. I've noticed on mine that the new branches are growing on all of them so I guess they take this time to get larger.

The final plumeria picture of 2011 is special: a French young man on one of my other forums expressed the wish to find a plumeria he could name for his great-grandmother, who has been a great influence in his life, and who is 104 years old. After inquiring what her name was it turned out to be 'Henriette' which is also my birth name. AND - there already is a plumeria named Henriette! But we compromised, and named what has so far has been known as 'Gardenia Fragrant White' - a descriptive but not very catchy name - as 'Madame Galibert'.

Here is a picture of the lady and the flower...
