That one's in a 16in. pot, Mj. Seems really happy and yes, making pups right and left.

Here's one I got from Rita (prita) on the other forum as a tiny start. It's taking off nicely this year and looking neat. Each leaf just shows one random "flash" of cream and maybe a little bit of an edge. The stems are very striped though. Anybody know this guy's name?

I thought Lime Zinger was another that would stay small, but now I have a big one, as well as a baby. Nearly 4ft. tall! What a color, too. I must admit I was skeptical of it but now I really do appreciate the color contrast in my shady border.

Your Zinger looks great. I've not heard of a specific name other than Xanthosma albo-variegata. It's gorgeous! There's another clone with more variegation which I lost to rot. The leaves were always deformed, it was a weak grower and I was told by southern growers that they also experienced weaker growth and deformed leaves. Not attractive like Mikey Mouse. Yours is a beaut.

I picked up Hawaiian Eye yesterday. They have them on sale now.

It starts out black and lightens to a dark green. But the blue veins on the front of the leaf remains.

Lucky you!
I been hunting that plant for years!
It's so funny how hard it can be to get some of these, while others are locally so common! Looking good!
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

Me too!
I could be wrong, but it looks like limeade, but maybe not, my limeade haven't gotten that big yet but they haven't really had a chance to either... I hope it is, limeade stands up to sun as if it's not variegated and grows like a champ!

A new favorite is Blue Hawaii. Two Florida tubers turned into this. This pot still needs a gallon of water a day.
Thumb of 2015-08-29/eclayne/c02ffb Next year in the ground they go.

Thanks Cinta. Elaine, @dyzzypyxxy, sent me two nice tubers this spring. They grew inside for a month and once outside they went ballistic.

Very nice Evan. I've found the Blue Hawaii seem to like larger pots to get bigger or be in the ground.
Well all mine are getting plenty of water now ! We have gotten almost 5 in. of rain in the last 2 days. And that doesn't count what we had been getting before. And the next two days they are saying we could get 4-6 more. Plants and ponies will need flippers.

My sympathies, Mj. We were visiting friends in The Villages this weekend and just got home. Figured we'd better leave while the rain was holding off and sure enough, they're getting clobbered along with you this afternoon!

Seems we've had very little rain here since we left on Friday, so I'll be glad if a little bit makes it this far north from the remnants of the tropical storm.

Your Blue Hawaii look wonderful, Evan. So glad they performed for you. Mine need dividing desperately and are in sad shape. Must find another big pot for them and get them going again before cold weather.

But . . . the gageana or Okinawa Silver you sent me, Evan, is just getting prettier every week. What a star. Plus they have not gotten awfully big, so maybe they are Okinawa Silver after all? This pathway gets blocked by foliage when I go away for only two days!

Wow, getting swamped indeed MJ. I hope your ponies enjoy mud. Love the new avatar. Is that Elephant's Ear (Alocasia macrorrhizos 'Albo-variegata') or the Upright Elephant Ear (Alocasia macrorrhizos 'Variegated Black Stem') ?

That's a stunning jungle walk Elaine and the variegated A. gageana fits right in.

Thanks Evan, it's A. plumbea variegated purple stem ( NSE has one just like it on Ebay right now.) I bought mine last fall from the website. It was another one that overwintered well in the greenhouse.

Sometimes the ponies do like the mud....but this is getting a little insane. Blinking Thumbs down Angry Crying Glare Sighing! Sad

Elaine, be glad you missed it. I have not seen it this wet here since the 2004 hurricanes.
