Really enjoyed this very informative article Dave! I have had that Ebony & Ivory on my wish list since your last article and just added 'Ebony Glow'. Need to make the rounds of the nurseries here and see if I can't find them.

Thanks Sue!

Eventually they'll get to your nurseries. 3 years ago only one nursery (that I knew of) had it in the entire state. Now it's impossible to find a nursery in Texas that doesn't have them! Lowes and Home Depot even have them (around $20 for 3' tall in a nice large container)

Sue - If you have a Home Depot or Lowes near you, I'd definitely check there first. You might be pleasantly surprised! Good luck!

I sure will!! Hitting nurseries here can be dangerous though, I have 7 within a 2 mile radius of my house alone, a HD, Lowes, and another large home & garden supply/lumber place called Friedman's, all within 10 minutes drive and then several others nurseries, both wholesale and retail also within 10-15 minutes drive. Oh the agony. I will prevail though. nodding

I knew as soon as I saw the title to this article, then saw who the author was, this was gonna be good reading! Loved it, Dave! Well written and very pleasant to read. Highly informative and just plain fun. :>)

I think I like the combined words, too...crapemyrtle vs crape myrtle (or crepemyrtle?) It reminds me of when the Ag Dept decided to combine Sweetpotato to differentiate it from being a "sweet" potato (Irish potato.) Now about that crape vs crepe..sheesh, I prefer the latter, it just sounds prettier.

Again, great article on a wonderful plant!

Gosh Im going to have to go out and see if that thing in the back yard is still marked, what the heck do I have hmm. It did make it through the intense -3f last winter with no die back which was pretty cool. You guys got me confused with all this fire flame bissinezs. I'll snap a picture in the am to show its true colors! I wish the Chickasaws would of made it through the winter come to think of it.
It will be like it was in the beginning.
