In the very early spring and fall I use a 6-10-10 Pennington granular fertilizer that I get at WalMart for less than $3 a box. But it's a seasonal item, so you have to get it when you see it. Don't know if they would have any left now, but after Christmas they should bring it out again so you could use it in the spring. I buy a whole bunch of boxes each year, and I'm usually finished purchasing by August. If you can't get it at WalMart just look for any 6-10-10 or 5-10-10 (nitrogen -- first number -- should be a low number), something like that. And I know the hybridizer Joe Ghio recommends a 10-10-10 granular. I've also purchased a 5-10-10 at Orchard Supply, but it costs twice as much as the Pennington at WalMart.
And this last spring I also sprayed MiracleGro on all the plants as a boost, and it really worked. The problem is that most people don't have a lot of rebloomers, and you shouldn't fertilize all the rest in the summer because of bacterial soft rot -- when it's cooler is best. Maybe you could just use a watering can and pour MiracleGro on the rebloomers only right after they bloom each time. And some rebloomers will rebloom more than once in a year. I just discovered a blooming stalk on PLEASANT PEASANT, and I haven't fertilized it since March. And it's actually rebloomed for me two to three times a year. I expect to have blooms on it again probably in October.
