I grew some last year, and they were more like grey goose berries,
and not black at all. Not great taste either !

That sure does not sound right. I've grown Black Cherry many , many times. It is quite large for a cherry and tastes great.
Your plants must have been mis labeled.

Rita, do you recall where you got/get your Black Cherry seeds from?
Intheswamp said:Rita, I don't know if I've ever called you a seed-purchaser enabler, but I should have.
I was already on the Baker Creek site looking at squash seed...going to plant a moschata variety in an attempt to thwart the SVB destruction....supposedly 70 days so I should have enough time. Anyhow, I grabbed some Black Cherry seed and will be ready for next year.
No Verni... tomatoes. I'll remember that. Thanks.

It's and indeterminate but it's not a cherry. It's a small roma like tomato. When it first became available years ago some people complained about a lack of flavor. But it keeps for a very long time if put in the refrigerator.
To get the most flavor out of them. The trick is to let them sit on the counter for a couple of weeks until they just start to soften a little. At that time they also get a little darker. And then the flavor is at it's peak. Ripe right off the plant they are very firm and somewhat lacking in flavor. But they are prolific producers without cracking or cat-facing. A perfect tomato every time.
