My gardeners managed to kill mine this year, unfortunately.

The Palatine site update is getting more exciting all the time. They just added Red Intuition.

http://www.palatineroses.com/r...

Unfortunately, they also took Halle and Marriotta off their list. I didn't buy them last year and was counting on getting them this year, darn it.

It's there. I saw it there. It says "sold out" because the photo is left over from last season, but they haven't removed it from the site. They removed Halle and Marriotta.

At this point they're just adding new ones and removing the ones that won't be available this year. They have until September 1st to remove the "sold out" notation.

I'm going to get the Poseidon Fairy Tale for sure. I have such good luck with their fairy tale roses. They're all huge and beautiful, and they're much more resistant to black spot and pests. I'm also getting Tarde Gris. I already have one, but mine is so pitifully small. I bought it as a band from someplace, probably Vintage, years ago, and it got attacked by gophers before I started using cages. It's in a cage now, but it's literally taking years (4 years so far) to recover from the attack.

I want to get a Tarde Gris too.. I think my list was something like Tardi Gris, Summer Song, Red Intuition, Charles de Gaule, Blue Nile, and Poseidon.

I *think* that's my list, but I haven't drawn up a formal list yet for my online hunt. I was planning on doing that next week. Smiling

Aha, a bit of trivia -- BLUE NILE is the seed parent of WINTER MAGIC!

Edited: Sorry -- I couldn't resist!

Betty, did you see that Kim Rupert wrote a great review for your Show 'n' Tell? I have two photos of it too. Thumbs up

I think I might also get the Queen of Hearts Fairy Tale rose. I already have the Queen of Hearts hybrid tea and I love it. I bought it from Palatine the first year they started shipping to the United States. I can't believe how ridiculous Kordes is: They name a rose Queen of Hearts in 2005 and then go ahead and name another rose Queen of Hearts in 2008.

Sue, I don't know who Kim Rupert is, unfortunately. I don't even have SHOW 'N TELL anymore -- and would you believe I own a plant patent on it? Ralph Moore helped me (meaning we sat down together and he did 95% of the work while I shook my head yes, organized everything, typed it up and mailed it in), and we also did one on my LEMON TWIST (probably my favorite of my roses) -- and I don't think anyone sells either of them anymore. SHOW 'N TELL has hand painting in it, which I really loved because in cooler weather each flower looked unique. I can't even remember the parentage anymore, but I'm thinking it had Matangi in it -- one of the McGredy hand painted roses for sure, as I was a big McGredy fan back then and Ralph Moore sold several of his. Ah yes, memories...

Zuzu, thanks for providing that link for SHOW 'N TELL. I clicked on it and checked the description to refresh my memory, and does anyone know who Mrs. Margaret Jacobs is? I am the hybridizer, and I've seen that name linked to mine before but have no idea where in the world that came from. I've always been listed as Betty A. Jacobs on registrations, etc. Hmmm... Not a big deal, but it's incorrect.

You should let HMF know that they're providing misinformation. They have 10 of your roses listed under Betty A. (Mrs. Margaret) Jacobs:

Wow, Church Mouse sounds stunning from the description in these references, Betty.

Betty, remember that link you sent me back in Jan. where Jim Sproul was talking with other hybridizers about your roses? Kim Rupert http://www.helpmefind.com/gard... is a hybridizer in So. Calif. and on HMF has written several informative articles and has a large list of plants he has bred.

In that link you sent me he wrote:
"Show'n'Tell is extremely clean here and can make all sorts of funny shadings and colors.
Winter Magic is a sturdy, bushy, ever flowering gorgeous thing. Just amazing in my old Santa Clarita garden. INTENSELY fragrant with such a lovely, silvery color. Cafe Ole is so close to it and it reverts so easily, you never know what you have.

Autumn Magic has clean, brilliant oranges and yellows with very decorative sepals on a sturdy, well foliated plant.
Every one I've grown of hers has been wonderful. "
Hurray! Thumbs up
