Now I want more lilies! No wonder my gardens have no rhyme or reason. Pictures like these are to blame. Can't single out names because they're really all breath taking.

I have new gardens and the bulbs give me an immediate show while I wait for the perennials to take off. I started with a plan, but I can't stick to it because I wind up using every available space to squeeze something else in.

Teri, I guess you do grow lilies! So ignore my other post on the other thread.

I can delete one of the above posts if you want me too, or we can see those lovelies twice, no problem!

That's a beautiful combination Terri! That's exactly what I've done here (in May I'll have lived here 3 years), bulbs and annuals to provide color till the perennials fill in. Only problem is now I've grown so fond of many of these annuals, and still want to devote space to them (now that the perennials are taking off).

This pic was taken standing by the butterfly garden, I recall loving being able to see the Lilies in the background, middle, and foreground.

Beautiful Neal.
I think I sent you some Agastache Blur Fortunes for seeds.Did they ever germinate? I understand they are sterile.

JoAnn, they sure didn't- I kinda thought that may be the case. Once I got into separating the heads, I couldn't find any actual seeds. Wasn't sure at first, but then looked at the 'Honey bee blue' I have in the garden, and saw that the seeds fall out easily when they're there. Seems like I crumbled up the heads and wintersowed them just in case, but got zilch.

Thanks Polly! I'm sure you'll have loads of lovely Poppies this year. Did you toss seeds out on the snow? I did that once, and surprisingly the birds didn't eat them. I guess they are pretty tiny and don't draw much attention. The thing I liked about sowing them on the snow was being able to see how thickly I sowed them.

Neal, we had the snow almost melted on the ground, but snow was predicted. There was a tiny bit still in the beds, so I dutifullly went out and threw the seeds as Jo told me to, and about an hour later it snowed, and has not melted from there since. This was in late December.

Silk Road with prairie dropseed (chasmanthium latifolium), feather reed grass (calamagrostis) and allium sphaerocephalon. I love the way the allium picks up the color of Silk Road.

Gemini,

I know what you mean about getting attached to the "fill ins". My DH says "no more new beds" and he is really right about this. We are both in our 70's and would have trouble keeping up with more.......but I NEED more so that I don't have to give up anything (and of course, add more).

This is a partial view of my newest (and last?) bed. The perennials will start taking over where the zinnia and gerbera daisies and other annuals are in this bed, but I want to see the beautiful annuals again next year. I have collected the seeds and need a NEW place to put them.

All these wonderful lily gardens are making me drool.
How about martagons in the back of my border on the Northeast corner of the house?
