Sighing! I guess I'll be moving some Adeniums tomorrow, after I pack up sixteen orchids for shipment. Sticking tongue out

Ken, I just looked up your location and weather. You are currently having nice days unlike a couple of weeks ago. So it should be okay now outside for your adeniums, with daily morning watering from the top. Hurray!

Edited: And mid-day watering as needed.

Got it, KD. Our weather has turned cooler the last week, but that simply reflects the air temperature and humidity levels are lower because of a cold front moving through and high pressure sitting on top of us. The intensity of the sun's rays won't change a bit though, since we are generally clear with very little cloud cover. The humidity is beginning to creep back up, getting close to our usual 70+ relative humidity and by mid-week, we are back into more typical heat, with highs in the mid-90's. I would think that my adeniums' leaves react to the sun rather than to temperature/humidity, but I could be completely off-base with that assumption. Shrug!

From my one year experience of growing from seeds, adeniums are survivors: they adapt to all kinds of weather except extreme cold and wet, compacted soggy soil. They respond to light, temperature, humidity, and adjust their growth accordingly. Examples: If they are not getting enough water, they will lose their leaves to conserve water and will be stunted (go dormant); if too much direct sun, they will fold up their leaves to lessen transpiration of water. There are other ways they respond but can not come up with them right now. @RCanada has had a number of years of experience with them and could tell more...

I don't see any leaf-curl, so if that's a sign off too much sun, my babies are fine. I water them every day, they are in well-draining soil, and of course the vast majority are in clay pots, helping them to dry out a bit faster. All-in-all, KD, I guess they are doing fine. Perhaps they are just worn out from growing so fast at the start of life and they are resting a bit now. Whistling

I am doing my best, KD. Keep in mind that I have over 1000 tropical plants to deal with, day-in and day-out. I haven't missed a day watering them since I moved them into more sun though. No leaf loss.........no leaf curl so far. I sure do appreciate you and @RCanada helping me understand their care. Thank You!

Ken, I can't answer your question as our lowest temp is 70F. Hope someone pipes in who can answer.

Actually, @Ursula sent me an envelop of seeds. I guess she thought I simply needed more plants. Whistling

I did whittle my 1000 or so plants down by 18 plants. We had a house-full of guests for our football game, and one of those friends lives on the Mississippi Gulf coast and grows all kind of tropical. She got terrestrial orchids, fiddle leaf ficus, bromeliads, "Leopard Lily", White Butterfly Ginger, Ficus Alii', a NOID citrus seedling, and a large, 3' tall Dieffenbachia.

Just to see, I left half my Adeniums out the last two days, with lows around 48 F each morning. They look fine. And no, they were not kept dry. I water them all every day, about mid-morning. They get full sun from 10:00-11:00 and then from 1:00 PM until sunset.
