Mayo, I can see that would be a problem for sure. I wouldn't be able to afford that either.

I peek on the LA every now and then. But with our grown son and his 3 children living here with us for the last 4 years, our budget is so tight it's about to snap. And DS hasn't worked for over a year now. Crying I need to downsize, but I'm sure I'd be giving in to temptation if I had the funds. Hilarious!

Since ATP plant lists has the option to mark which plants are for sale, the membership should look there for bargains. If a daylily is on the list, you know it is registered, and all the stats are there also. By knowing in what zone that member is located, you have confirmation that it grows well in that zone. For those of us who live in the north, that is very valuable information.
Look at my list sometime.

Profesora, I made every effort not to bid against you. People on this forum are important to me!! If any of you are bidding under different names, please post it. I don't want to ace anyone out, but on Sat. my husband said "you'll have to pay more than $100 for that plant. I want you to have it.' Who needs that kind of help???

I must confess that I do peek occasionally. I catch David doing the same. The problem with even occasional peeking is that we see something that is a great buy and HAVE to bid or do an Instant Buy. So, we have 5 coming from Abundantdaylilies in late September. I must say that we have been good the past couple of years. Once you run out of room (thanks to the Lily Auction), it is much easier to stay away.

My wife, who likes all the landscaping, flowers, etc. but isn't really into gardening herself, and does not understand why I need hundreds of different Daylilies, fell in love with Undefinable, and blew my mind, by actually wanting to purchase it. I could hardly believe she was OK spending $350 on a single fan, after all the not uncommon gloomy looks I have received over the years, for spending much less on Daylilies. Well, it was already sold out, and I don't think I could bring my self to pay any were near that for a single Southern fan anyways. I did, however, want to get some seeds from Undefinable for my wife to grow, and hopefully get a little more interest in the hobby in the process. Today I won 5 seeds of Orange Blossom Trail x Undefinable, I had to pay more than twice what I ever had for seeds, but I think it will be well worth it, if it gets my wife more interested in Daylilies. On a side note, the individual bidding against me, I have noticed has bids on well over a hundred seed auctions, and has been very active since I have been looking, and has out bid me on numerous auctions. I would love to see their seedling beds in a couple of years, I can only imagine the beauties they will have, with the number of seeds they are purchasing. I only wish that their taste didn't over lap with mine, they seem to have more resources than me, LOL.

I dont even bid against that person. They will pay anything, and there will be more seeds. Years back, there was someone named 'Prettypony'. This person, who bid anything on just about everything, turned out to be denstist and ended up getting kicked off for not paying. The person I think your talking about has a number of over 7k now. I feel like ive bought alot and I think mine is like 350. This person clearly pays.

Wow! I felt guilty spending $30 on five seeds once. I know there are a couple people on there I won't bid against. They seem to have an abundance of money.

That is ridiculous! The seller must be laughing all the way to the bank! I hope they get their money's worth from that auction win ... ha! They could have bought the plants and crossed them for that price! Blinking Blinking Whistling

Not for nothing but the losing bidder there was someone who knows a thing or two about daylilies. It was Pat Stamile.

Oh my! Pat Stamile .... makes me wonder who the winner was?!!! Some of those auctions get pretty exciting to watch! Makes me wish I was the seller! Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! Thumbs up

I have my low budget limit when bidding, so I never even bother to post on such auctions that go over a certain amount. But it is fun to watch others go wild on the bidding! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I was thinking the same thing James. Clearly seeds have gone for much more, but that was pricey. I love watching who the bidders as much as bidding on the seeds. It always makes me wonder what I am missing when I see other seeds they are bidding on. I know Pete Harry bids on alot of seeds, and I just never 'get' it. Guess that why Im still trying Blinking Green Grin!

Ive always steered away from the overseas seeds anyway. One seed traveling that far is scarey for me.

What name does P. Stamile bid under? Seeds are a cheaper way to get some nice genetics but some go way to HIGH for me.

I did win a cross from Ladylovingdove. Get Jiggy x Whale Tales. Hurray!

Also 2 more from Michelle at a little over $11!!
