Speaking of Fiskars, I love these and use them every day:

http://www2.fiskars.com/Produc...

I use them for deadheading, pinching back, and a lot of pruning -- roses, lilies, and, well, just about everything. Without their precise little point I'd find it very hard not to inadvertently snip the clematis vines that are growing through everything.

Laura,
Those look much like the Joyce Chen kitchen scissors which I have abused. When we take them to have them re-sharpened they are just like new. Some of my cheaper scissors don't re-sharpen well.

Arlene, I have a set of KitchenAid products that came with my mixer that I use outside, LOL. The knife and scissors are great.

those scissors, if they really are the ones I have, are very small. they're just snippers really.

My husband, by the way, is always grabbing kitchen knives and other utensils for all sorts of urgent, rugged chores outside, and it drives me nuts.

That's why you're married to him and I'm not. We wouldn't have anything to eat with. Hilarious!

but but but.... you're twinlakesCHEF! My husband has been known to use the really good chef's knives to carve through hoses, branches... etc. Because they're closer to hand than the tool box.

I have several things that I garden with that I prize and things that my husband knows better than to touch.
1. My stainless steel border spade
2. My Felcos
3. My 18" Nejiri Gama Hoe (hand held weapon of destruction) I also have a 12" one too.
4. My Hori Hori Knife
5. My Dutch Perennial Divider
6. My Fiskars foam knee pads
7. My Foxgloves Gardening Gloves (I wear these religiously)
8. Round-up

I have lots of other implements of destruction that I like to use in the garden, but these are my favorite ones. Whistling

Would like to see a pic of your Dutch perennial divider. What the heck is it?

My perennial divider is either a sharpened shovel or a ginsu knife. Really, the darn knife never dulls! And the blade construction, sorta having teeth, works excellently.

This time of year especially, having multiple pairs of pruners is advantageous. When cutting spent flower stalks, you don't have to disinfect between plants, just use a different pair. Since I grow a lot of species lilies that are more virus susceptible, sanitation is more important. I've had some hybrids since childhood, and they surely harbor some virus(es), even though they don't show it.

I'm stuck in the house mudding, spackling and painting... I don't think I could find my gardens for the weeds if I wanted too.... But hey, I'm getting really good at mudding things... Smiling LOL

How are you? Smiling

That's a lot of painting! Hope you chose your colors well. We painted our dining room 3 times before settling on plain old white.

All's well here. Just watching the last of the lilies drop their lovely petals. Hope you'll get to enjoy your gardens some before August chews'em up!
