Ok, names are written down, Orchids are tucked into the cage, except for two of them in bloom, they are in the house.
Still need to hose down the shoes to cool them....
See you in the "I just bought" thread......

Update on my Habenaria rhodocheila, with one spike almost all open now. I tried to use our dark pool as a backdrop, but the reflections are a bit distracting . ..

Carol, are you going to Fascination of Orchids this year? I will be going. I am hoping to attend judging. I'm checking today to see how I request participation. I hope we can meet in person!

Melissa, are you talking about the January 23rd, 2016 show in Miami? At my age, I don't think that far ahead. It would be nice to have someone to ride along with me!

Oof, Miami? If it wasn't 4hr. each way (six for Jim) and then having to fight Miami traffic . . . I think I'll stick to the local shows. I'd rather spend the gas money on plants, too.

Melissa gets to fly in and stay near the show. Easier for her than for us, in all truth.

Melissa, I think you should fly into Orlando for our Apopka shopping trip. You'd go home with 3 times as many orchids for the same price. Got a really huge suitcase??

Melissa, Yes, I'm going. Haven't figured out just when though. My son's SO would like to go with me, but she works till 4, so may decide not worth the hassle. I'm just waiting to hear from her. Of course I've been known to go more that once, since it's only 20 min. away.

I would be worried, Jim! Are you singing today? Make sure that there is not a little quaak quaak sound sneaking in there. That would be very embarrassing..... Angel

anyway, stay dry!

Wow, you are getting slammed with the rain again, Jim. We have not had any yet, although it looks like the tail end of the front will clip us in another hour or so. Starting to get some gusts of wind, so that usually indicates it's on its way.

It rained yesterday and today too. I did my spraying this morning on the fungicide, after 3 hours it rained, so not sure if my spray held up.

Carol is right this fungicide mix is too thick, even after I shook it. No instruction whatsoever on how much to spray so I just winged it. Hopefully it will not cause more harm than good.

There is no instructions because it is a ready mix. How much to spray depends on the size of the plant. Just soak it and it will absorb what it can. The good thing about systemic is it goes into the plant and rain can't wash it off. I use concentrate because it is a much better value. Ten tablespoons makes ten gallons and you can add more water if you want. If it was contact, the concentration would be important. Not so much for a systemic.

I don't think I can drive in as it is so far, but I might have someone to stay with in Miami so I can save on hotel. I'm trying to find a cheap flight. If I can do that and save on hotel, it will be worth it for sure.

It will also give me a chance to join in the judging for practice. I got my name tag.

I'll have to put that one on my list. When is it? It would depend on our local shows. Tamiami doesn't conflict with any of our shows. Unfortunately Redlands is the same weekend as our local show which is a real bummer.

Well I'll for sure be there on judging day as my mentors said it is good practice to go outside of the region. I have to email them to let them know I'd like to join the judging team that day.

Hope we can meet!

Jim, what systemic Fungicide do you like? I haven't been able to source a decently priced one locally. They are megabucks.
