I do love the butterfly weed and so do the critters--
the practically obligatory, color-coordinated aphids that come along with it, though, I am not particularly fond of

Aphids certainly are disgusting little creatures, but I guess they've a niche in nature for some reason. They usually are prolific on fall goldenrods around here.

Mantids creep me out too although they certainly have their place. I'm just not fond of looking at them.

That's an unusual looking (to me) mantid Jack. Good photos. I can't find the mantid in the one with the skipper though --- but I'm never very good at that. Those darn mantids are so hard to spot.
