I was on the back porch this afternoon and spotted a Snowy Egret and a juvenile White Ibis in the side yard. I also heard the rattling call of a Belted Kingfisher and then saw it fly up and land on the power line but by the time I ran inside, grabbed the camera and ran back out it was gone. I did get a close up of the Snowy Egret and a not so great shot of the Egret and Ibis in the yard.

Lin, if you keep saying your photos aren't great, I'm going to use my Moderator powers on you! You take great pictures and your windows are way cleaner than mine! If you want to see examples of bad pictures, check out mine!

I took the dog out before the rains started a few minutes ago. The Egret was gone and I don't know if this is the same Ibis but this juvenile White Ibis was walking around in the next door neighbors yard, feeding on something in the grass. I got right up next to the fence to take some pictures before the dog startled it and it flew across the water. If you look closely at the bill in the first photo you can see where it had been digging in the soil. .

Yay for vultures... they are pretty cool birds and mother nature's great housecleaners!

I was a little surprised to find out there are only 23 species of Vulture worldwide. I would have guessed more. We get two in Florida - the Black Vulture and the Turkey Vulture. And many of them migrate here during the winter. We certainly have enough roadkill to support their population!

I agree with Melanie about your photos Lin. Another fantastic set today. Snowy egrets are so regal, beautiful and just plain stunning.
Okay, here's the deal Lin. Apologize for your photos one more time & we are going to plan a midnight raid on Lin's house. We will steal your camera & smear mud all over all your windows so you will truly have crappy photos.
