The lily you have there Anthony looks like it could be 'Tiger Edition'. The breaking in the color might concern me though.

Anthony, you will have to show us your seedlings when the time comes. It will be refreshing to see your stuff in our doldrums of winter Smiling

For many years,i have been trying to buy trumpet aurelian seed of''amethyst temple x dark amethyst''..best described as the darkest, most sinister,black/deep purple trumpet available..,,i had a bad experience with a seed trader in England, who wanted half my life savings for 10 seed[joke],but not far away from the truth.if anyone can help,i have 3 new ,dark,,crosses of seed i could trade with..anthony

ummmm... what exactly is Amethyst Temple x dark amethyst? Seeing as Amethyst Temple is a strain I would think the offspring would be unpredictable. Is "dark amethyst" a particular clone pulled from the strain?

I asked because I have a seed lot involving a dark amethyst temple as pollen parent but the hybridizer has said he hasn't recovered that aspect (yet) in any of the offspring. I haven't grown any of this seed mainly because I have a freezer full of lily seeds to pick from each year, so some get ignored.

My darkest purple is a real nice dark Pink Perfection.

Hello Everyone
I'm Pam and I live in NE PA in the Pocono Mountains. I recognize some names here. I have taken to growing most of my lilies in large tubs now. The voles were just eating too many.

Hi Pam, welcome.

Those stinking voles! Do they leave your hostas alone?

Thanks, Tracey. Where in Wisc are you? My hubby's family is from Rapids, and Marshfield and Madison. His brother has a barber shop in Madison. Making a trip out that way next summer.

I've been caging all my hosta as I plant them. The voles don't seem to bother the older hosta where the soil is very compact.

We have voles, and I've been quite concerned about the irises, but so far they haven't bothered them. They can do such a number on things here, as our ground doesn't freeze, so we seem to have them chewing away longer.

But, glad they don't bother your hostas.

I have never heard of voles eating iris. I don't have many iris, but haven't seen any damage. I don't know why I can leave a hosta or a lily bulb laying on top of the ground and voles don't eat them, but the minute you plant them, - they eat them - lol. This year, the voles also ate the roots of some of my sedums, and people are telling me they are eating astilbe roots.
