Thanks Rick, I had all this stuff written in a book but things become simplified and forgotten!

I have had a lot of seed on some of my Lilium, L. cernuum was loaded last year but I didn't do anything with the seeds, well actually I ended up sprinkling a lot of seed around the front bed and some are growing! They are even better this year, loads of flowers and seed pods. I put 3 to a big pot each in a greenhouse, but it's a holey one with lots of shade, also next to Gloriowhatsits so it seems to like being there in my black gold of course, I use no fertiliser at all.

Don't start me off again Anthony, later I'll be scouring the web again when we get a cold day! It only takes one cold summer's day to put me out of sorts, not to mention 6 months of winter. I couldn't bring all my plants with me though!

I went through dozens of folders to find L. cernuum, this was on 10th June! It wasn't easy getting a pic in the greenhouse, but you can see how well they are doing. The scent isn't the best, in fact a little off, but they are a good doer where they are. One day I might try some in the ground.

Janet, love the L. cernuum, and the knobs where pincers might be...

I assume the cernuum pods were open pollinated. If you didn't have any L. pumilum or L. davidii flowers blooming at the time, you can be fairly certain that there wasn't any hanky panky going on, and you've got pure species seed. At any rate, if you have extra seed this fall, I'd like to try some, pretty please...

Whenever I resize an image for posting, I rename it too, with its Botanical Latin name and pertinent data. That way, I'll always be able to find it, even if I have to search the whole computer with a search word. Although exceptionally long, below is an example. I'm sure you must do something like this for your insects. Why not plants, too...

Lol Rick! Knobs where pincers might be are nearly as good I guess, they are interesting! Rolling my eyes.

You may certainly have some seed, there will be plenty. I felt guilty last year not sharing it around, such a shame for a special lily for it to go to waste. The original seed was from Connie, I looked in my book but couldn't find it, however I wrote it on the label. If you remember I had a flower on a tiny stem in the second year, that was 2008. The seed was sown in March 2007, and they were mature in 2009.

If Connie wants some seed back I can send you plenty so you can send it on perhaps?

I do name all of my pics on a daily basis now, some I can't always give a name but I've got to the point where I can identify most things now. I take so many pics I just don't have the time to transfer them to their own folder yet, that will be a winter job. I have last year's in named folders with most of them named, apart from a heap of flies I'm not sure about! Rolling my eyes.

Hi everyone! I just joined this cubit today and will probably be a lurker, for the most part, as I have a tiny garden in So. Cal. (zone 10) and lilys don't do very well here. I have been lurking on DG for a couple of years, and am happy to see so many familiar names here.
Due to the strange weather this year, my fall and spring planted lilys did remarkably well... this year. Now I'm waiting to see what makes it next year. If they don't make it, I'll just continue to grow them as annuals, because I love them. At least I don't have to worry about wildlife or lily beetles here!

Hi Carol.

Welcome!

Lurk if you must, but we would love it if you would come in and talk to us. We don't care if you have one lily, or thousands. It's all fun, and hopefully informative.

Hi Carol and welcome! There are some lilies that might do better than others for you. In particular I'm thinking about Lilium formosanum and L. longiflorum hybrids. Easter lilies are L. longiflorum. There are hybrids that have color in them, not just white.

Popping in while I have the time, tho I am yearning to be outside if it isn't going to rain.

Loving the pictures and all the talk of seeds and seedlings. Hope to stay caught up, but fall is just starting and I didn't get much of a summer to do anything! I'm making up for it now :o)

I am so enthralled with the propagation and multiplication everyone is into.
I love lilies and dont have room for that kind of activity.
I will lurk here just to see what everyone is doing.
The lilies in my garden are going to sleep now. We are also very near the snow prediction time in Z6 this means snow in the air not drifting and sticking to the ground like it does in another month.
Just hello
Jo Ann

It will be 9 months before we see lilies.
Those are fantastic.
I like the 'palm tree ' stage before the buds grow.
