Welcome! Alan!

Another Kentucky grower here, in central KY - the bluegrass region. I grow all sizes of bearded irises and several beardless species and cultivars too.

Did I see a post from you mentioning Crimson King? I just divided a big patch and have plenty of extras- tree mail me if you'd like some.

And -- incidentally -- extra rhizomes of the Irises themselves!! Whistling

To Alan -- yes, it is a LOT of work. And yes -- it is incredible when they are in bloom -- I posted a couple of pictures for you in another thread. I couldn't possibly list the names of specific Irises -- there simply are too many. If you stick around, all of this information comes out in a variety of ways, on various threads. Between now and next spring, you will have your own wish-list of Irises -- and if you're like the rest of us (addicts) -- you'll want more than you have room to plant!! Hilarious!

I unintentionally added almost as many this year as Jen. Which brings me to over 500. Ermagerd!!!!! Blinking Blinking Blinking

Well, I have spent a lot of hours on the Internet looking up old varieties of Iris, and have made a rather long "Want List". Now it's just a matter of finding a source for these Iris rhizomes. My next
project is to look up commercial growers of Iris and see which ones have websites and which ones have the Iris varieties I'm looking for. I'm starting off slow with 10. I want to see what happens to these 10 iris rhizomes between now and next Spring. What they do? If they bloom?
If I like the flower when it does bloom? and then I will decide which ones I will keep and which
ones I will discard and replace with ones on my "Want List". I have a lot of work and research to
do Crying

Alan -- I feel obligated to warn you that there are insidious enablers here who will slip into your psyche and draw you into their addiction. Debra and Arlyn are experts at this. Be on high alert!

Well, I am here to learn and grow in the appreciation of growing beautiful Iris. I'm sure all of you can assist me in my journey. I have loved Iris since I was a child and I am thrilled to be able to
have a garden devoted to growing Iris. I don't mind dealing with "Addicts" and "Enablers".
I look forward to being here with all of you. Thank you all.

Thanks, well, we have a whole year to worry about it, and maybe you don't have what I have on my list. And that would be ok too. No worries. Thank you. Thank You!
