I stopped wearng a watch cuz it was too stressfull trying to figure out what I should be doing at o'clocks. Now I just tell time by the sun, the animals, my tummy and my sleepiness. Of coursely this can make me out of sinc when I visit other places but usually Hal keeps track with the little clock at the bottom of his screen. So my question is exactly what springs or falls at 2:00am Confused The urban myth is that we do this for farmers. Help please farmers cuz I don't see what's different if you live by the sun. Another complex issue which is tied to the time zone in your profile as she swiiiiiiiings back on topic Big Grin

>> Binary: Using or denoting a system of numerical notation
>> that has 2 rather than 10 as a base.

Binary is like counting on your thumbs. The only digits are "one" and "zero".

>> how is a binary watch different from a regular watch?

Cats use binary time, especially when they want me to feed them.
There is "right now", and there is "not now".
Only "right now" is acceptable.

>> So my question is exactly what springs or falls at 2:00am The urban myth is that we do this for farmers.

The way I heard it, "Daylight Savings Time" was for children waiting for school buses, so they didn't have to wait in the dark.

Some cartoonist satirized it by showing how a mother kept her children warmer by cutting the top few inches off a short blanket, and sewing it back on the bottom.

Democritus had something loosely like:

We say "hot", we say "cold".
We say sour" and we say "sweet".
But in truth there are only atoms and the void.

Oh Oh Oh I get it. It's like "I o'clock therefore I am" Thanks Rick. I'm liking the binary system more and more. Dark is just the absense of light so hence the kidlings are safe cuz TA! DA! there be a moon Smiling I've always called this the twicely theory but now I shall call these ponderings 'binary'. O wait,

Talk about deep! Like people who know they exist because they twittered the fact to some critical number of friends.

"I Tweet, therefore I am."
"I think, therefore I am."
"I think that I think, therefore I think that I am."

I thought daylight savings was invented so children COULD wait in the dark for school buses, not to mention in the cold (although...the word cold feels so good right now, with all the triple digit temps!). And also so their parents could get to work early, which makes certain businesses happy!

I always thought it had to do with saving energy. Since it's light out early in the morning you'd need fewer lights on...same with at night in the Fall....

Haha! I've believed for years that we should get rid of DST! I keep my car clock on "real" time year-round.

>> You may be wet on the coast, or arid in the high desert

Wet, all wet.

I live in the wussy part of the Pacific NorthWet, just a few miles from the coast. Halfway between Puget Sound and Possesion Sound, opposite Whidbey Island. Right between Mukilteo, Lynnwood and Everett.

I love the mild weather, but wish just one part of my garden would have an earlier, warmer summer to make tomatoes practical. Low temps in late Winter and Spring seem to hover right around freezing for 2-3 months.
