Rick, my son lives in Seattle. He says people there are calling this one "the second summer in a row that didn't happen."

I wish this summer hadn't happened here. If I could just skip ahead to fall!

I imagine so Linda. We've had a hot and dry summer here too, but nothing like what you've had.

I had a heat spell here also. It got up to a sweltering 74 degrees.

>> "the second summer in a row that didn't happen."

I'm glad it isn't normal! One of my first two springs did some snowing after I did my sowing ... TWICE! I wound up sowing some thing three times to get one crop.

I'm glad they stopped calling it "global warming" and settled on "climate change".

There was a so-called "Little Ice Age" some hundreds of years ago in Europe that was called "The Year Without A Summer".

Not the same thing as Robert Heinlein's novel "The Door Into Summer" which I just re-read. His widow said that he got the idea for the book when their cat demanded to check every door in the house when he had to go outside after an ice storm.

She told Robert that the cat was looking for the door into summer, and he got a thunderstruck look and started typing very fast.

Gymgirl, it's simple: Coleus, coleus, and more coleus. They'd love your heat and humidity. You might need sun tolerant ones, depending on how much sun they'd get.

You're cold? Is your air conditioning set on 50°?

BTW, for those hot Texans, they said on the news last night that WEST Tx and New Mexico are much, much, much drier now than it was during the dust ball.

How cute all three Linda's have had it with summer ! Thumbs up We are getting more humid every year here now in the summer and getting less rain plus our evap. cooler motor went out and Monday and Tuesday we had a house with no half way cool air. The little air-conditioner we had put in two small bedrooms kept me from totally losing it. ( but not by much ) Thumbs down Heat seriously scares me. I do not handle it well. I envy Margaret's cold weather ! Rolling my eyes.

GymGirl if I put on a sweater now, I would expire. Rolling on the floor laughing

Are you kidding? If I didn't wear shorts and a shirt with cool fabrics like cotton I'd expire! However, I have to have a hat on if I go out in the sun...and sunscreen. 3 Basal Cell cancers removed...so far.
