I think I saw a documentary about this, or something similar. Is the artist Chihuly? (I'm sure the spelling is wrong). Truly amazing as are all of your photographs. What a tremendous resource.

I'm not positive but the artist chihuly (something like that) does ring a bell...inside the Climatron is a display of same artist's glass flowers. Mobot has more glass works (assuming same artist) This is entrance/exit to the rose garden.

There are 3 aligned lily ponds in front of the Climatron; in one float these tapered glass sphereicals -

Cool! You're the first northerner I've seen post growing Crinum. Do you grow it in a pot? I've got one that I received in a bulb swap a couple of years ago. It's in a pot with other plants that goes in the unheated plant room for winter and back to the deck in summer. It was small when I planted it, but is maturing nicely. I didn't know if there would be a chance of my seeing it bloom- I'd never heard of anyone growing them in containers.

jmorth, your Lycoris are gorgeous. Do you know the ID of your crinum?

Neal, I will be the second northerner poster growing crinums. Smiling

Do you grow it as a perennial sgardener? Plantfiles lists it as z6b but we know how conservative they can be.

No, I don't. I grow them in containers. I wanted to experiment but never get around to doing it. Maybe I will try with the one that offsets like crazy. Plant it deep and see if it will survive the winter here.

How many varieties do you grow? I've never looked very closely at Crinums, thinking I couldn't grow them, but now my interest is piqued! I love experimenting with zone pushing too.
