This is a wonderful plant. I love it. It seems to be even less hardy than the species, however, so I never count on it to survive the winter. It survived last winter, but that was an anomaly -- so warm that it could have been classified as zone 10.

I love it too. Really adds a lot of color and interest in the garden when it is blooming and even when it isn't.

This is just good all the way around. It's just coming into bloom and the foliage color is turning up a notch making it look dappled with light even when in full shade. It blooms in early October here in 9b and will into November. It has also performed well on a restricted water ration. It is just a smidgen shorter than usual. It has spread enough to divide and it will find its way into other parts of the garden this coming season. The color shock between bloom and foliage took some getting used to but I love it now, too!

This one is beautiful! So is the regular one with green leaves, which is the only one I have. It just started blooming this month but is huge and lots of blooms but kind of sad since in my zone I likely won't get to enjoy it long. Next year I plan to get the "Honey Melon" pineapple sage which I guess doesn't get quite as large as the other 2 but supposedly blooms earlier and longer. Those bright red blooms are stunning- I am sad that the hummingbirds have apparently left because I haven't seen one in awhile, so they didn't get to enjoy this salvia. I really have enjoyed these "Salvias of the day" @Marilyn! I just haven't been on here in awhile. Need to get back to checking in more often! Smiling

I don't think my Salvia elegans will last after tonight, since we're getting down to an unseasonably 28 with around freezing tomorrow night. Last night we had our first frost.

I always look forward to the flowers of Salvia elegans or Salvia elegans 'Golden Delicious'. They are stunning! Thumbs up
