I think I heard somewhere that flowers, leaves and roots can all be used. Not sure about differences in taste.

All parts of the dandelion can be used.
Flowers taste pretty good to me and are a mild pain reliever.
The leaves I tasted were bitter so not fond of those but hey are supposed to be extra good for you
Roots are also good for you and can be roasted to make a coffee substitute.

I received some, no the most excellent news at work this morning. We have an associate garden area where associates can get a group together and request a raised bed that's like 5x12 feet maybe? The company provides everything and there's water on site for watering. Half of the beds are reserved for food pantries and associates help pick the produce and take it to the pantries. On planting day everyone is out there and enthused. That's the last you see of most of the associates and over the summer the beds get out of control. Some of the raised beds are in bad condition and they replaced several of them last year. When it rains a lot there's water in the pathways. Had a water main break as well last summer. Well about a month ago, everything was gone.. .the beds the dirt. the nice patio in front. Then workers started doing something. I walked over to the associate garden area last week and it looked like construction. Sad Then I noticed it looked like water lines and drip lines. I talked to an admin and she said they were turning it into showcase gardens because the associates weren't keepin the beds up. Very sad. Very sad. Talked with the facilities guy this morning and he said yeah its gonna be showcase ASSOCIATE GARDENS. They are putting a ton of money into the gardens. A building, pergolas, drip lines??!!, nice pathways... it was a nice benefit previously... I think I'm going to live there at lunch when it's done.

I'm taking Red Clover tea. I'm not sure it'll help now, but I'm ending treatment for H. pylori today. Tired of the weakness and other side-effects from the 14 capsules a day I've been taking. Gotta get those ulcers healed, that takes time. Meanwhile, a Covid-19 patient was mistakenly released into the nearby city over the weekend. D'Oh! Wish there was something to boost our immune system in case an outbreak occurs from that. Sometimes it feels like already sick seniors have a target on our backs.

The best way to boost your immune system is to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Herbs can help but those food groups are more important

I might be able to eat more now of the fruits and veggies now. One of the meds I was taking actually had a side effect that made my appetite worse.

Thomas I meant to offer my condolences on losing the associate gardens. But at least they are replacing them with something you can enjoy at lunchtime.
Jared that sounds like a delicious combination of herbs. I have both growing here so will try to remember to give it a try.

OH nooo... I thought they were replacing them.. That's what I was told but the facilities manager said they are going to be SHOWCASE ASSOCIATE GARDENS... so we still get to have the beds, but they are putting a TON of money into the garden area. Drip irrigation! Gazebos for "working on plants?" don't get that one, but hey I can eat lunch there. Smiling So it's a good thing. Smiling

Welcome jpes1276.
Best way to try new herbal teas is to try them one at a time to make sure you can tolerate them. After you learn which ones you like and which ones help you then you can start blending them to make more intersting flavors.
I like lemon verbena on it's own. Still working on combing spearmint and dried vanilla bean.

Used to work with a guy that drank honey water. Just hot water and honey. If you like lemon, you might want to try some fresh lemon balm. Very lemony taste and it's a mild sedative. Very soothing even on a hot summer night.

Few months ago I saw a youtube video which explains health benefits of herb teas. Since then I'm planning to grow herbs in my garden. As a newbie, at the moment ginger mixed tea.

Hello,

Well I am principally an iced tea drinker as we live in Houston, TX
So my favorite herbs to use would be:

Lemon Verbena for a lemony taste in the tea,
and for a sweetener I would use stevia.

I have grown both in my gardens

I've grown both of those as well. In our zone, stevia is an annual. Sad I also recommend that you try lemon balm, but it can be invasive. Has a great taste and is a mild sedative, just enough to sooth you. I also grow peppermint and spearmint.

Well growing herbs in Houston TX can be very easy
and the main thing to worry about is how big things
tend to grow. My oregano has just about taken over
a half barrel container

Yeah mint is definitely a container or raised bed plant. The lemon balm spreads more by self seeding but is easily ripped up.

Unfortunately, camellia sinensis requires US zone 7 or better. I looked into growing it once, but when I saw the zone stopped looking.

Camellia sinensis is a herbal tea just the most familiar one.
I tried growing it here but that year was not a good ey at for trying that type of plant and it died.
