When we sold our house in Chicago, I did exactly that -- dug up all of my Irises, divided them in two, replanted half and took half with me. At the time, I was a Realtor. It just seemed like a fair thing to do.
As a seller, you would be entitled to exclude the Irises from the sale -- but it would need to be in the listing in advance.
