Me too, Lucy. There's always the danger that they'll be cut down for lumber.
There's only 3 percent of the old growth left! (since the white settlers came). And
I forget why, but in order to procreate there must be some of the old ones left.
After the 1906 fire in San Francisco, many of the local redwoods went to rebuild
homes in the city. All those beautiful Victorians - many of which are still standing
because redwood is such a reliable building material.
