Karen, how did you freeze it? I have read about putting it in ice cube trays, filling with water, and using the cubes as needed, but am not familiar with any other method.

I've done it in the ice cubes, frozen it in ice cubes trays in olive oil, and once I laid the leaves out on a tray, froze them, and then bagged them up. I guess it depends on how you want to use them. I much prefer to just keep some plants producing year round, but it does take some work to keep them from all from bolting.

Cilantro pesto sounds like a winner to me. I'll be sure to give that a try. Thank You!

We really enjoy it, but we like all types of pesto.

I'm on the team that tastes it as soapy. Yuck! And I'm a very adventurous eater, so there aren't that many flavors I really dislike.

But Liz Claiborne had a perfume a while back (darn it, I forgot the name) that had base notes of cilantro and lime, and I really liked it. So did my husband and he is one of those guys that hates perfume. Since then, I've discovered that he likes the scents of herbs and fruits, but not flowers. Strangely enough, though, one of my orchids has a perfume that appeals to him. He says it smells like spice cookies. But I digress as usual . . .

That perfume sounds like one I'd like, too. I could sure make my cilantro-hating neighbor go crazy! Big Grin

Me and my husband like it a lot, but our son, not so much. It always reseeds here in Z5 for me and I find I have lots of new plants every year. I use it in the summer for culinary, and also, it is a great companion plant for my Roses, especially. I have always tons of seeds. I have it on the East side of the house that gets sun in the morning and shade from about 2:00 on.

We had spicy short ribs the other night and some chopped cilantro to finish the dish was excellent. I'm on the team cilantro side for spicy foods. As I tend to grow a fair bit of parsley, I haven't been growing cilantro, yet I think I will next year, perhaps with the roses. I like the idea Stacy!

For those of you who really like the taste of cilantro... how would you describe the flavor? Although I'm not too fond of it, it does seem sort of "lemony" to me.

Something like that, Sandy. Don't think I know how to describe it further.

To me, cilantro tastes like a soap you'd want to eat Hilarious! with a hint of lemon. The nice thing about the flavor is that when the market has the parsley and cilantro mixed together, one taste will tell you.

I love cilantro. I cannot get enough of it and there is never such a thing as too much cilantro, lol. We eat alot of mexican and I can salsa. It's the cilantro that sets it off for us. I just really had no idea some people taste soap. I'm definitely glad I'm not one of them.

I use slow bolt and mine is slower to bolt particularly if I plant it in the later summer months to come in with my tomatoes. This year I'm going to try earlier tomatoes and earlier cilantro.
