Lovey dubby Thank you. I actually have a tendency to over-love (read: over water) my plants, but I'm trying to be careful about that this year. Having more plants means less time and energy to water them all, so hopefully that will force me to water a little less; which, hopefully, will mean less likelihood of root rot in my plants.

Hopefully. Rolling my eyes.

(I've been doing really good so far this year, though...)

I made some cuttings of my Star "Jasmine" (**) and so far they have not died. In the past, I have had no luck, If they do take, in the Spring I could send you one for postage.

That is so generous of you, thank you! I might take you up on that. I'll see how my green thumb develops and if all seems well enough come spring, I would love to try the Star Jasmine you have. Lovey dubby

(If I kill off my plants with too much love, though, I won't accept your generous offer...I don't want to kill your cuttings that you worked hard to grow.)

** Like Stephanotis, Star Jasmine is not a true jasmine either but a member of the Trachelospermum genus. True Jasmines are in the genus Jasminum

I'm okay with that. Big Grin

Dogs I tell everyone that have a water problem.....Get a squirt bottle or a couple of them from the dollar store. Put a drop of Hydrogen Peroxide and a drop of fert. I have some African violet fert that came with a dropper in the bottle. When I think things look a little droppy or I just want to walk around with some water I grab a bottle and start squirting. I grow a lot of succulents that really do not like water in the winter and I keep the rooms cool.

I have about 8 plants that absolutely cannot get dry those I keep a bottled water next to them and if I walk by and they look a little dry I give them a drink.

I have found that tap water seems to be a problem for many plants. I remember my mother never gave her plants fresh tap water. She always had a bottle of water sitting next to plant that had been sitting for a few days/weeks to leach out the chemicals they add to the toilet water I mean tap water. Rolling on the floor laughing

She boiled all the water she used for the family cooking and drinking. You would think we lived in a third world country. But she never trusted the water coming through the tap she was brought up on a farm and well water was the only safe water in her mind.

Cinta .... Some good advice there. I too have a heavy hand in watering and have killed more than one by over watering.

I am just imaging you wanting to walk around with some water and grabbing a bottle and squirting. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

DavidLMO said::-)) It is Stephanotis which is a beautiful flower with a pleasant scent. Used a lot in corsages and bride bouquets. I owned a flower shop.

Sadly, the Stephanotis genus no longer exists. All of its species have been reclassified as Marsdenia or Jasminanthes. Stephanotis floribunda is now Marsdenia floribunda.

Grumbling Grumbling All the renaming, reclassifying et cetera drives me NUTS! It seems to have accelerated in the past 5 - 10 years or so. Some of it is understandable. But some of it ....

It really scares the cat and the bird. Rolling on the floor laughing

I kill plants because I underwater. I hate to water plants indoors, I love the hose outside but water on stuff inside drives me crazy. I water once in Jan maybe Feb then April when I see things growing and looking like they are going to die if they do not see some water. May they go outside and get their water.

Cinta, you are a riot. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Poor plants, they get such tough love during the winter months. Plant warning: If you are not a succulent, please go outside and get your water, if you want to survive and thrive under Cinta's care. Whistling I do like your idea about the squirt bottle. I may have to try that. Thumbs up
