Love the one with no ID as well as the collar on the red. I still think that plants to Europe somewhat depends on the state of origin. However I have sent pollen.

Is that the blue version of Haunted Heart you mentioned earlier Brad? Nice!

LOVE the No ID. Drooling

The last one reminds me of Broome Sunset. I am guessing that was a cross with a Blyth iris.

Like I said this is my favorite group but I would also love to see 8-72E, 09-88F, and 11-111A come live and flower in my yard someday.

Hi guys it has been a rough few days here our weather has been excellent and dry 60's and 70's very weird for Iowa in early March we should have snow cover and in the 20's. I finally got time to start going through the field and winter was rough again on us and mother nature helped us cull many of the seedlings we were un decided about Shrug! will take a while to go through them all and figure out what's left but disappointed to say the least. I would of preferred to at least see them bloom and pitch them myself. I thought we had a very good winter it was more mild than normal but still had some -teens in January and then quick warm up's that was probably what caused the damage and as we all know mother nature is very unforgiving and the one thing we can't control is the elements, especially in the Midwest we can have the coldest of winters and hottest of summers If a plant survives in our climate it is definitely hardy so will work with what is left Hopefully the favorites were spared but won't know for awhile, weeds are starting to pop and I need to get them cleaned and snapshot down before I really have a mess so will be a while before I get through them all. I guess on the bright side the 2015'seedlings are popping up at a record pace in the greenhouse so we will have plants to look forward to next year and maybe a early bloom season at this pace. Just hopefully with no late frost's Rolling my eyes. as were famous for those as well.

I wanted to share some of the kids and grand kids from Kieth's (Silk Road) it really is a Outstanding parent so many good plants coming from it. I went looking for it in Schrenier's fields knowing that if they catalog it there is thousand's of bulbs of it growing and I wanted to see it flowering in mass but was on the early side this year it was just starting to open but you can see what a good plant it is. Amazing what crossing it to other plants can produce, it seems to make everything better it touches, I was shocked when I saw all these lined out together in rows in Oregon and even more shocked when I figured out they were all siblings this is the 06-77 cross (Silk Road X Roaring Twenties) they are everything you could want in a plant, excellent form, strong stems, lots of buds and they come in a rainbow assortment of colors :smily:. I know Kieth has generations of seedlings from them and from what I saw they are going to be excellent parents. A bonus for those of us in cold climates everyone of them survived here this year Big Grin very excited to see them bloom and work with them.

Our club bought 'Billowing Waves' from Keith last year. A member in CT bought it so I won't be running over there to see it. ☺ I liked it better with the white standards, than the yellow ones.

Since I pretty well share your weather patterns, Brad.....I'm also looking at more damage in the beds than I would have expected. No seedlings, of course, but many, many 'soft" rhizomes amongst those newly planted, last year Grumbling . The iris are just now beginning to show some "new green", so the next week, or 10 days will tell the tale on what actually "made it", and what I'll have to re plant !
We had very little zero (or below ) weather, here (or so I was told....I was on the Gulf Coast Sticking tongue out ), but, what we DID get, came with no snow cover, and with the up, and down temps, all winter long, and LOTS of rain, instead of snow.......it just wasn't a good winter for iris, I guess Shrug! . This makes the third (in a row) winter that "wasn't good"

So sad to hear of so many seedlings, Brad, and new ones too, Arlyn, that did not make it thru the winter. I have a few seedlings that I fret over a lot just because of the promise they hold. And any new one lost is always a disappointment. I hope this year is a better one for irises and look forward to a better report from your gardens.... and photos.
