I enjoyed the Tutorial. I made one of these and it is exactly as you explained. Do you leave yours out in the winter??? Mine has made it a couple of years. i need to move it to a more noticeable location. But I am looking forward to installment #2.

That's a good idea, Sue. In order to get all the photos in the article the way she wanted them, Debbie had to downsize and when that happens they are out of the lightbox, which is what enlarges them. Maybe when she sees this request she can add them as you said. Thanks!

Thank you! I was really nervous with my first attempt so I tried hard to make the instructions "clear as mud"! I'm hoping with good instructions it will ease everyone's anxiety because everyone who sees the sphere in the gardens says "I could never do that" - oh yes you can!

Lynn, I knew someone would ask! The sphere is easy - the "leaves" were difficult. It took two attempts to get it "right"! First attempt was to merely press Hosta leaves and Fern fronds into wet cement but it was a miserable failure. Second attempt I covered the failure with more QuikWall and hand carved the leaves with a paring knife!

Thanks Deb for the fantabulous article. Your instructions seem very sensical and the tips on having water in both bottles and bowls will make it easypeasy to keep the cement moist.

I've added 'plastic sleeve for instructions' to my supplies list so I can wipe them off when I cement them. O and safety glasses and shower cap cuz well that could happen too

Charleen, my apologies. I knew someone had asked about leaving the spheres out in the winter but forgot where it was!

Mine has only endured one winter but from everything I've read it should last a long time. The one precaution I intend to take every year is to drain all the water before freezing temperatures arrive. Then I tip it forward so water/snow/ice won't collect it in over the winter.
