Thanks Cliftoncat and Claudia!

The weather here is changing with a cold front that's heading our way, it ended up getting overcast and dreary looking this afternoon but the feeders were really busy all day. It's been really dry lately so we are looking for some much needed rain tomorrow and Sunday! Here are my last photos from today.

Red-winged Blackbirds

There were two White Ibises perched on the power lines for awhile this afternoon (one above and one below. A third flew in and landed on the top line but I guess it wasn't welcome because the one below began making honking sounds at it and the intruder suddenly flew off. Green Grin!

It is now January, but the Juncos, chickadees, and nuthatches started visiting my suet about a week and a half ago.

My birds just started feeding in the last week or so. No interest in (fresh) Niger seed. Downy Woodpecker here at suet every day.

I have what I believe is probably a Pine Warbler who loves the peanut suet along with the Red-bellied woodpecker. I found another no-melt suet tonight when I was shopping at WalMart. It's called "High Energy". Will be trying that one next. I hope these birds like it!

David, that's why when I was growing up we always called them "tick birds". They are often found in cow pastures where they eat bugs & you very often see them standing on the backs of cows picking bugs off the cows. The cows are probably quite thankful.

David, yes those were the Cattle Egret, http://www.audubon.org/field-g... and it is interesting to see them hanging out with huge cows and really funny seeing them standing on the backs of cows!

The cow/bird relationship reminds me of the way sharks (and others) seek out schools of some kind of specialized fish and let the little fish clean their outer skin of parasites.

Lin - Glad you are enjoying the video! How lucky for you to actually have a bluebird. I've never seen one here. Only the blue Indigo Buntings that only over-winter here. I'd love to have a breeding pair of bluebirds in my yard somewhere.

Bluebirds are quite common here. Many folks put out special designed boxes for them for nesting. I will trade 2 bluebirds for 2 buntings. nodding
