I have broms, cycad, hibiscus, philos, plumeria, tillandsia, and hydrangea. And that's not counting my "one offs" either! Great addiction choices, Carter.
I am not an early bird or a night owl--I am some form of permanently exhausted pigeon
Name: Marica Northern Ca mountains 4000' (Zone 7b)
I live in a Forest so my choices of addiction are limited. What gets them hmm wild animals or snow and low humidity. Would love more plants. It would cost a lot to keep them alive.
My poor adeniums. They will be soaking wet for a couple of days at least. There's a tropical storm between us and the northern part of the Philippines and the storm is throwing winds and rains our way. It is on its way to Taiwan.
This is too much of a coincidence: Last year Rinoa and I were in the middle of email communications regards processing my order of grafted plants while a tropical storm was going over Taiwan. Rinoa said she and hers were okay...all were safe no damages suffered. I hope they will be okay this time around too. I'll wait a couple of weeks more before placing my order for this year.
Thanks, guys! I'm staying indoors for now...still too windy and wet out. I'm sure many of my potted adeniums have been blown off their platforms. Hubs will go out and check when winds die down a little more. Glad I had procrastinated pruning my adeniums...would have a bigger stem rot problem if I had pruned.
They look great, Chris. I guess your cooler temps will arrive soon. If they were mine and I lived in your clime I would not fertilize with a high ratio of Nitrogen. Instead, I would give them micronutrients that are in transplant starter solutions to prepare them for the cooler temps.
I think the root starter liquid will be just fine as usually it has Vit. B1 and several different micronutrients. A weekly to bi-weekly feeding should suffice. The seedlings will still get the other nutritients (NPK) from the humus in their potting media.
Chris, the manufacturer's directions for the product should be okay. If you're concerned about it being too strong you could weaken the formula. Pour enough of the solution into the pot until it starts to run out of the drain holes.
Oh, one other thing...if the product does not have magnesium, mix a tablespoon of Epsom Salts with a gal. of water and use this to water the seedlings once a week. "Magnesium has an important role in photosynthesis because it forms the central atom of chlorophyll."
I'll go out here in a bit and check it out. The label doesn't give the full ingredients of course but here's what it is - http://www.fertilome.com/produ... I just emailed their customer support and asked for a list of all the ingredients.
