I too, have had the same issue with the speed up in the temps that results in my spring plants wilting. My wife and son bought me a raised bed greenhouse for Christmas that may help me in that vein. I put it up yesterday. I may be late for this year but next year it will be ready. I had to build a base for it as my garden is built with cinder blocks and the unit needed a wood base to screw in the supports.
When it gets hot, I will put a cover over the top of it to shade the plants from the sun and open the sides to allow air flow. Not sure it's going to work this year but I thought I would test is out. I took pictures of the unit in place and the box in case anyone is interested.
This is a year of transition in my garden. I have many structures to build and what seems like less time to devote to it than last year. I do what I can when I can. Not stressing as eventually, it will all be completed. In gardening, you just have to take the long run approach.

Did some bed cleanup yesterday between the rain showers, even during at times. Surprised to see how many plants are already starting to emerge through the mulch... Sedums, ornamental grasses, day lilies, coreopsis, helenium, and a few others. Hurray!

Craig,
depending on your zone (I am 7, near ish to Chesapeake Bay) you can use that next winter and keep fall greens going all winter. With protection like that, I think my kale would have been great. About half the kale died, the rest severely frost and windburned but getting new leaves. My spinach lived all winter with no protection at all, but would have been growing under one of those. I've had lettuce make it through snow with row cover and milk jugs of water to moderate the temperature.

We barely had any rain yesterday. I spent time making a row of large rocks in a shade garden, a one row stone wall. . I think it makes the flat yard more interesting. (Probably a dumb idea, my rocks are kind of ugly here...) Fertilized flower beds and planted lettuce seed.
Plant it and they will come.

Ugly dirty rocks. Hoping they look better as they get rained on and aged!

That garage looks great, Sally. Yes, that does explain the new rocks to work with.

Wow... you all are so awesome ! Thank You! , everyone. Had a very nice birthday with my family, including parents, sister and her family, and my son.

Sally, that garage looks great, very nice. Three windows and a door with glass panes, should let a good amount of natural light in.
