I haven't seen this mentioned yet so I will add a couple of tips.
Tip 1: One of the most important features of the swap is the wishlist. I'm not talking about post your wants in a thread but your private wishlist feature. If you haven't done so, go to the swap home page and click on » Access the full tradelist for this swap. You will now see a list of all seeds offered in this swap and above each plant name is a row of stars. To create your wishlist simply click on these stars. You can rate the plants from one to five star, with five being the ones you want the most. After selecting your wishes go back to the swap home page and you will see a new line the says » Access your wishlist for this swap with the number of plants your have in the list, click on that to see your list. Not only does this give you a list of plants you want but once the swap starts you will be able to make your picks directly from this list without having to goes through the main list.
Tip 2: Also on the swap home page is a link that says » View recent events for this swap. This is a record of events that occur from the creation of the swap to the end, such as when a new plant is added to the swap and when plants are picked. Members can add new seeds to the swap up to the very end. Rather than having to scroll through the entire swap list to check for new listing, go to the events page and you will not only see what new plants have been add, but you can also add them to your wishlist directly from this page. Also during the swap you will be able to see when someone picks a pack of seeds. It can be interesting to see what others are going for and also may bring your attention to a plant that you overlooked while going through the main list.

Thanks for pointing those out, Horntoad. When Dave created the Recent Events link I did not think I would have much use for it, but it turned out to be a very handy feature.

Does there happen to be any way to see how many, if any, have added items from your available list to their wish list?

No Erica. In the Swap Host view I can see how many wishes have been selected but not who selected them or what they are. Currently 66 packs have been tagged as favorites.

I may be the only one who needs this reminder but I do. I posted some seeds last night and thought they were in my list for this swap, but I had not activated them for swap 4 so they did not show up. I remind everyone else to do it but did not do it myself. Sheesh.

Almost forgot. Only two of you have clicked on the "manage my profile" link and entered your mailing address for the swap. Sometime before the swap opens for trading you need to complete that step.
I need to hop over to Horntoad's swap and see if I did that there myself.

I was just reading the tips and see that you can select seeds to request from your wishlist when the swap opens.

Does a new link appear at the start of the swap to request those seeds right from your wishlist?

Yes there will be a treasure chest icon that will appear at the beginning of the swap. You just click on it and the seeds are yours.

That's great!

Thank you for answering my questions, I'm new to the new trading system. I like it so far.
.
I only have 9 wants so far but 3 of them are 5 stars so the treasure chests should help me acquire my most wanted quickly.

Reminder! Once you have entered seeds into the swap list they are still not available to this swap unless you go to the far left of the entries and check the box under swap #4 or any other swap you are in. You will only see a column(s) for the swap(s) you are in so you cannot mistakenly put them in a swap you have not joined.
If you are on the main swap page: http://garden.org/apps/swap/vi... you can select 'manage your own swap list' to go in and make them available.

Sorry to be redundant, but I am interrupting regularly scheduled programming to post this message on a couple of threads to make sure everyone sees it. I started a thread called It's About Time yesterday. It contains important information for the exact date and time of the start of the swap and how that first day or two happens. If you want to be at the opening gate to get special seeds everyone needs to know what is going on. Erica acknowledged reading it on the thread, but no one else has done that or asked any questions. That may mean everyone understands completely, but I did not the first time and I don't want anyone left out, so on Wednesday if I have not heard from everyone that you are up to speed I'm going to send that information to anyone I have not heard from by email to make sure it is seen. I will be posting more details about how you select what you want and how the swap moves forward from the first day or two until the end of active swapping and beyond.
